JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic and results-driven professional to join our team in the role ofChemistry Systems Analyst.

Reporting to the Manager, Central Chemistry, this position is responsible for monitoring and analyzing plant information using a Laboratory Management System (LIMS) and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to identify trends, provide troubleshooting solutions, and identify and champion opportunities to improve system performance.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead the implementation of the chemistry Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) software program (eg. LabWare), including configuration and set-up, acceptance testing, and developing procedures.
  • Prepare system health reports and action plans to sustain and improve system performance, identify system risks, and support improvement initiatives and modifications
  • Monitor system performance by analyzing plant information, identifying trends, providing troubleshooting solutions to the station, and recommending improvements to enhance system health
  • Develop and support the execution of projects in compliance with applicable industry regulations and standards
  • Maintain documented processes and procedures to improve operating methods and support enhancements to systems
  • Work with a multi-disciplined team of engineering and technical specialists to support the operation of various mechanical and electrical systems; coordinate the clarification of specification requirements and arrange for necessary changes and/or coordinate technical work as required in multiple major work areas
  • Maintain and update operating and other specified department/divisional procedures
  • Provide technical evaluations and advice, solve problems, and coordinate technical work as required, in support of the commissioning, operation, and maintenance of facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or another chemistry-related discipline (eg. Environmental Chemistry, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry) is required; Master’s degree or PhD is preferred
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in chemistry-related roles supporting process or plant chemistry systems (eg. steam cycles, cooling water, condensate/feedwater chemistry, wastewater systems) is required; experience in the nuclear environment is preferred
  • Knowledge of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) is required
  • Ability to work as a team player to understand and manage the interrelationships of various internal and external groups to facilitate objectives and ensure projects satisfy stakeholder requirements
  • Strong technical writing skills; strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to lead meetings and give presentations required
  • Experience and willingness to interface with vendors
  • Ability to understand, execute, and follow governance and procedures with a questioning and analytical attitude/approach under minimal supervision; the ideal candidate will have a strong industrial production mindset
  • Knowledge of OPG’s ECC (Engineering Change Control) Process is an asset
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging work environment
  • Willingness to acquire and maintain deep knowledge in nuclear chemistry

The base salary range considers many factors including, but not limited to experience, education, and training, including any collective agreement requirements for union represented positions. It is not typical for the salary to be offered near the top of the range, and salary is dependent on numerous factors. For management roles, the base salary range does not represent the total compensation package. The total compensation package for regular full-time management roles includes pay-for-performance programs for annual and medium time periods.
