The founder is one of the few registered First Nations Architects in Canada. The studio specializes in working on environmentally responsible and culturally sensitive projects that reflect and reinforce the values and visions of the client. Position Summary Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Architectural Technical Lead to spearhead the technical execution of complex architectural projects. This role emphasizes the development of intricate construction details, seamless coordination of consultant inputs, and the production of superior construction documentation. In addition to strong technical expertise, this position requires a keen design aptitude to accurately interpret and capture the lead designer’s intent in every aspect of the project. As a key mentor in their studio, you will elevate standards in detail development, document coordination, and the integration of high-tech solutions, ensuring projects meet rigorous quality, compliance, and innovation benchmarks. - Lead the technical progression of projects from schematic design through construction documentation and administration, incorporating advanced digital tools for precision and efficiency. - Develop and refine details, building assemblies, and systems integration strategies, with a focus on constructability, sustainability, and emerging technologies such as smart building systems and modular construction. - Oversee the preparation, coordination and quality control of construction documents, guaranteeing clarity, accuracy, and adherence to building codes, standards, and regulatory requirements. - Mentor and guide project teams on best practices for documentation, detailing, building systems, and the use of high-tech tools like BIM clash detection and parametric modeling. - Review Drawing sets with specifications and ensure coordination by marking up documents and coordinating changes to maintain technical integrity, consistency with firm and industry standards. - Coordinate consultant drawings, specifications and inputs with architectural documentation, utilizing collaborative platforms for real-time integration and conflict resolution. - Track industry standards and stay current on evolving building codes, materials, construction methods, industry innovations, and high-tech advancements, including AI-driven design optimization and VR/AR for virtual walkthroughs. - Act as an in-house technical expert, offering support across multiple teams, conducting technical reviews, and promoting the adoption of digital workflows to enhance project outcomes. - Collaborate with design and project management teams to align technical strategies with project timelines, budgets, and sustainability goals, such as LEED certification principles. Qualifications - Diploma in Architectural Technology, degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch), or equivalent professional qualification - 10+ years of professional experience focused on technical design and documentation, and complex project delivery in the architectural field. - Proven expertise in architectural detailing, building systems integration, and high-tech applications like digital fabrication or prefabrication techniques. - Advanced proficiency in Revit (BIM) and related digital tools, including AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or similar software for modeling, coordination, and documentation - In-depth knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, construction methodologies, and sustainable practices. - Demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate large, intricate drawing sets while ensuring technical accuracy and innovation. - Excellent organizational, communication, and mentoring skills, with experience leading multidisciplinary teams in a high-tech environment. - Registration with the Architectural Institute of British Columbia (AIBC) or eligibility for membership is considered a strong asset; certifications in BIM management or sustainable design (e.g., LEED AP) are highly desirable.
