Adecco is currently hiring a full-time experienced
Application Engineer to support advanced power system projects for one of our clients. This role involves the design, testing, and commissioning of
protection and control systems , ensuring reliability and safety across electrical power infrastructure.
This position requires strong expertise in
multi-function protection relays , relay settings, and system testing, along with the ability to independently manage projects and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Pay Rate: $ 48.64/hour

- Shift: Monday to Friday | 9:00am - 5:00pm

Responsibilities: Engineering & Technical Design - Analyze customer applications and specifications to design protection and control panels
- Interpret and work with:
- Single-line diagrams
- Schematic, logic, and control diagrams
- Bills of Materials and wiring drawings
- Develop and implement engineering solutions aligned with customer requirements
Relay Configuration & Testing - Prepare customized test plans to validate multi-function relay performance
- Create relay setting files based on coordination and protection study reports
- Upload settings and configure communications, including IEC 61850 protocols
- Execute test plans using secondary injection testing equipment
- Simulate complex protection schemes such as:
- Transfer schemes
- Synchronizing schemes
- Auto-restoration systems
Commissioning & Field Support - Perform testing of protection and control systems both in-house and at customer sites
- Provide on-site commissioning support for new installations
- Ensure systems are functioning correctly and meet performance and safety requirements
Project & Team Support - Take ownership of assigned projects with minimal supervision
- Provide technical support, peer reviews, and mentoring to team members
- Contribute to training and knowledge sharing within the engineering team
Qualifications and Skills: - Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of experience in:
- Relay testing
- Creation of setting files for multi-function relays
- Strong knowledge of power systems, protection schemes, and communication systems
- Experience developing test procedures and commissioning plans
- Solid understanding of major protection principles, including:
- Distance, Line Differential
- Transformer Differential
- Bus, Feeder, Generator, and Motor protection
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Customer-focused mindset with strong problem-solving skills
- Experience in turnkey Protection & Control projects
- Hands-on experience with secondary injection test equipment (Omicron, Doble, Megger)
- Familiarity with utility standards and electrical documentation practices
- Experience in substation automation, communications, and system integration
- Knowledge of GE Digital Energy and third-party relay systems
- P.Eng designation (or eligibility) is an asset
- Travel: Must be available to travel to US and Canada, travel to customer sites
- Mu st be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
