Plant Controller

Temporary (Durée déterminée)The Plant Controller oversees the financial side of the plants (minimum 2 plants) under his/her responsibility by focusing on raw material and yield analysis while helping his/her team manage labor and other operating expenses. His role as a business partner to the manufacturing team is to ensure the accuracy of financial information, help understand results, optimize operations and carry out transformation projects.

The Temporary (15 months) Plant Controller oversees the financial aspects of the plants (at least two plants), with a strong focus on raw material analysis and yields, while supporting their team in managing labour costs and other operating expenses. In their role as a business partner to the manufacturing team, they ensure the accuracy of financial information, support the understanding of results, optimize operations, and lead transformation projects.

• Salary grade 006: $111,000 to $138,700 (Base salary will be determined based on your academic background, experience, training, and job-related skills).

What you will take ownership of on a daily basis:

• Determine milk payments and periodically analyze raw material yields used in manufacturing, as well as related performance indicators.

• Support the Operations Analyst and/or Clerk in month-end closing activities (volumes, labour, and other expenses).

• Develop the plant manufacturing budget, with support from the plant Operations Analyst.

• Develop the plant cost of goods manufactured (variable costs + fixed overhead), with support from the plant Operations Analyst.

• Assist the plant leadership team in developing and monitoring key performance indicators to assess functional performance and identify further cost-reduction opportunities.

• Contribute to cost control and help build the future by providing financial analyses and recommendations.

• Develop data- and fact-based insights to support decision-making and drive productivity initiatives aimed at reducing overall costs.

• Actively participate in plant management committees and present financial results.

• Team management – Plant Operations Analyst & Clerk.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Responsible for employee relations, including employee career guidance, hiring, training, performance reviews, policy and procedure administration, disciplinary actions, and compensation recommendations.

• Lead the implementation of departmental objectives, goals, and policies.

• Fulfill supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, and guidelines.

• Understand and comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

Safety Protocol

• Stop any unsafe act observed and comply with the facility’s safety rules and procedures.

• Correct or report any observed safety hazards.

• Support safety policies and programs.

The profile that can truly own the role:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (BBA), Accounting, or Finance required.

• An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.

• Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience required.

• Bilingual in French and English, written and spoken, considered an asset.

• Positive leadership and strong team spirit.

Qualifications:

Education Required:

• Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Accounting or Finance required.
• Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.

Experience Required:

• Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience required.
• Bilingual in French and English, spoken and written, an asset.

Certification/Licensure Required:

• Obtaining the CPA designation or relevant experience (5 to 7 years) required.
