Le7 te Melámen Health Society (LtMHS) is passionately committed to enhancing the well-being of the Secwépemc Nation and its 16 communities through a culturally focused approach, ensuring the safety and well-being of Indigenous families.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

Le7 te Melámen Health Society is seeking a Communications Coordinator to support clear, consistent communication across the organization and with external partners. This role will help keep people informed, strengthen engagement, and ensure all communication materials reflect LtMHS’ work in a thoughtful and professional way.

The ideal candidate is a strong writer and thoughtful communicator who can turn detailed information into clear and useful messaging for diverse audiences. A practical understanding of how communication builds trust and strengthens relationships will be key to success in this role.

AS THE COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR, YOU WILL:

  • Support the development and implementation of communication strategies that help keep communities, partners, and key audiences informed about LtMHS initiatives.
  • Support engagement activities by ensuring communication efforts are clear, coordinated, and aligned with LtMHS priorities.
  • Maintain familiarity with Secwepemc culture, traditions, and community protocols, and reflect this understanding in communication planning and delivery.
  • Maintain strong awareness of FNHA, Interior Health, and the current landscape of First Nations health in BC.
  • Oversee LtMHS’ social media channels and website, ensuring content is accurate, current, accessible, and aligned with the organization’s work.
  • Engage with communities to share information, gather updates, and support awareness of LtMHS programs, events, and initiatives.
  • Establish and coordinate an LtMHS newsletter, including gathering community submissions, organizing content, and preparing materials for distribution.
  • Prepare and support a range of communication materials, such as but not limited to reports, status updates, letters, brochures, information packages and notices.
  • Ensure communications are clear, consistent, professional, and accessible to the intended audiences.
  • Promote LtMHS events and initiatives to support strong attendance, awareness, and participation.
  • Support additional communication and engagement activities as organizational needs evolve.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a communications, marketing, public relations, engagement, or related role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to develop clear materials for a range of audiences.
  • Experience supporting communication planning, content development, internal updates, external messaging, or public-facing information sharing.
  • Experience managing or supporting organizational communication channels, including social media, websites, and newsletters.
  • Experience preparing communication materials such as reports, status updates, letters, brochures, information packages, notices, or event-related materials.
  • Familiarity with First Nations health, community-based health services, FNHA, and Interior Health.
  • Familiarity with Secwepemc culture, traditions, and community protocols is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to plan work, manage competing priorities, track action items, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to take initiative, problem solve, make sound decisions within the scope of the role, and handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

  • A valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, and clean driver's abstract.
  • Successful completion of a criminal record check.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Schedule flexibility, including evening and weekend meetings.
  • Travel within the region, as needed to support communications.

Benefits

  • Salary range of $34.00 – $42.00/hour, based on skill set and experience.
  • Extended Health, Dental, Life insurance, and long-term disability benefits.
  • Paid vacation, personal leave, sick days, and spiritual leave.
  • Employee Assistance Program.

Applications will be accepted until June 5, 2026, with interviews expected to commence the week of June 22, 2026.

In accordance with the LtMHS Human Resource Policy Handbook, the first priority will be to hire qualified persons of Secwépemc ancestry. Pursuant to section 41 of the BC Human Rights Code, preference may be given to applicants of Indigenous ancestry.
