Job Description

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA)-Regina is seeking a team-oriented and professional Orthopedic Surgeon with subspecialty training and interest in Arthroplasty and Trauma to join us on a full-time fee-for-service basis. The Regina Orthopedic Surgery Department includes 15 specialists with diverse sub-specialty interests. It is the goal of the Division of Orthopedics to provide full access to all subspecialty interests in Orthopedics with the exception of complex pediatric and orthopedic oncology.

Orthopedic services are shared between two sites: the Regina General Hospital, our trauma center representing all major surgical specialties, except transplant, and the Pasqua Hospital, a community-based hospital and referral center specializing in Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Plastic Surgery, General Surgery, Urology and Pediatric Oncology.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the on-call duties of the Division.

The University of Saskatchewan is a research-intensive institution with 26,000 students and 6,500 faculty and staff, and a strong reputation for innovation and excellence. The College of Medicine has an intake of 100 students per year with a commensurate number of positions for residency training. The Department of Surgery has distributed training sites in Saskatoon and Regina ().

Job Qualifications

  • Applicants must have completed a specialty residency-training program in Orthopedic Surgery, accredited by the Successful applicants will have completed fellowship training in Orthopedic Arthroplasty and Trauma. Applicants should be eligible for regular licensure to practice in Saskatchewan as determined by the
  • This individual should be a team player, be able to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, staff and management, and function well in a high volume environment with a commitment to provision of high quality patient and family centered care.

  • The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) requires a criminal record check (CRC) from every potential SHA team member. The CRC must be dated within the past six (6) months and be satisfactory to the SHA. A vulnerable sector check (VSC) is required for individuals providing patient/resident/client care to vulnerable persons.
