Job description
Securicare is seeking Patient Watch Security Guards to support our healthcare security operations in North Vancouver within the Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) portfolio. In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring patients who require additional observation to ensure their safety and well-being. This position is critical in preventing falls, self-harm, and other incidents, while working closely with healthcare teams in a dynamic clinical environment. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to respond effectively in a variety of situations.Pay Rate: $22.50 per hourLocation: Lion's Gate Hospital, North Vancouver BCSchedule: Duties & ResponsibilitiesMonitor and observe patients on a continuous basis, ensuring their safety and comfortReport any changes in patient behavior or condition to the healthcare team promptlyAssist with patient mobility and positioning as neededCommunicate effectively with patients to provide reassurance and supportDocument observations and activities accurately and promptlyCollaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient careRespond quickly and appropriately to any emergency situations or patient needsRespond promptly to security incidents, including medical emergencies, disturbances, and safety hazardsInteract with patients, visitors, and staff in a calm and respectful manner, resolving conflicts and addressing concerns to maintain a peaceful environmentUtilize effective de-escalation techniques to manage volatile situations and prevent escalation to violenceDocument all security-related incidents and observations accurately, completing incident reports and notifying appropriate personnel as necessaryRequirements:Valid BC Security Workers License (SWL)Valid Basic First Aid certification (OFA 1)Valid Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (MORB) training is an assetStrong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse individuals in a healthcare settingPrevious experience in security, preferably in a hospital or healthcare environmentExcellent observational and problem-solving skills with the ability to remain composed under pressureBasic computer skills for report writing and incident documentationAbility to complete detailed reports, multi-task, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environmentFlexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidaysPost-secondary education in Police Foundations, Community Justice Services, or Law Enforcement is an asset.What's In It for YouFun Events Year-Round: From big celebrations to small get-togethers, we love finding reasons to celebrate.Collaborative Culture: Join a supportive, values-driven team where everyone has a voice and wants you to succeed.Training & Growth Opportunities: Continuous learning is part of who we are - expect workshops, micro-lessons, mentorship, and hands-on projects that build your skills for today and your career tomorrow.Purpose-Driven Work: Be part of an award-winning organization recognized for its culture of respect, empathy, and accountability - where every person contributes to making people feel safe.At Securicare, we live by our R.E.A.C.H. values:Respect · Empathy · Accountability · Courtesy · HonestyAt Securicare, you'll be part of a team that values collaboration, innovation, and employee growth.
