As our BI Architect, you will lead the development and delivery of actionable business intelligence solutions that drive decision‑making across sales, inventory, and operations.
Reporting to the Head of IT, your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Lead and mentor a high‑performing BI and data analytics team within IT.
- Define and execute a BI and analytics roadmap to scale self‑serve analytics, improve reporting efficiency, and support business‑wide decision‑making.
- Design, develop, and maintain dashboards and reports, including Power BI solutions, covering sales, inventory, merchandising, and store performance metrics.
- Utilize Microsoft Fabric components, including OneLake, Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, Dataflows Gen2, and Notebooks, to support end‑to‑end data solutions.
- Design, develop, and optimize semantic data models using Power BI datasets and DAX.
- Build, maintain, and enhance ETL/ELT pipelines leveraging Fabric Data Factory.
- Integrate and consolidate data from diverse sources such as SQL Server, Azure SQL, APIs, and cloud‑based platforms.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and reliability by monitoring quality, enforcing governance, and maintaining compliance standards.
- Create and maintain clear documentation for PBI Fabric Lakehouse/Warehouse configurations, datasets, and data models.
- Serve as the primary IT point of contact for all reporting and analytics needs across corporate and store operations.
- Collaborate with project managers and team members to understand their business requirements and translate them into dashboard visualizations, providing actionable insights and strategic recommendations to support retail operations.
- Act as a subject matter expert in modern BI tools, advising on reporting, analytics methodologies, and data visualization best practices.
- Stay current with emerging BI technologies and IT best practices to enhance reporting and analytics capabilities.
- Additional tasks as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, data analytics, business, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in reporting tools such as Power BI development.
- Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouse and warehousing concepts.
- Strong expertise in Power BI (DAX, Power Query, data modeling, dashboard development), SQL, and Oracle.
- Experience working with Azure Data Services (Azure SQL, Synapse, Data Lake) and integrating data from multiple sources (e.g., ERP systems, ServiceNow, Workday, Jira, SonarQube).
- Experience with retail data systems, POS/ERP integrations, and retail metrics reporting.
- Understanding of data security, RLS, and governance.
- Knowledge of data warehousing and ETL/ELT processes.
- Proven ability to lead cross‑functional teams, mentor staff, and manage multiple priorities.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with additional BI tools is a plus.
