We’re looking for a skilled Journeyperson Carpenter who takes pride in their craft and can deliver high‑quality work on a variety of construction and maintenance projects. This role is hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and suited to someone who knows their way around formwork, framing, finishing, and everything in between.
You’ll work closely with the site superintendent, interpret drawings and specifications accurately, and complete tasks safely and efficiently. If you’re someone who shows up prepared, communicates well, and can adapt to changing site needs, you’ll fit right in.
- Interpret drawings, specifications, building codes, and direction from the superintendent
- Lay foundations, plan task sequences, and carry out all carpentry‑related activities
- Estimate and select materials required for tasks to ensure adequate supply
- Prepare framing for concrete, mix and pour cement, and build/remove structural formwork
- Perform internal and external structural repairs
- Construct stairs, framework, and other structural components using proper tools and fastening systems
- Set up scaffolding and work safely at heights
- Operate and maintain carpentry tools and equipment
- Maintain daily task logs and support preventative maintenance schedules
- Collaborate with the superintendent and follow established quality control systems
- Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and regulations
Qualifications
Minimum requirements:
- Journeyperson Carpenter Certificate (Red Seal preferred; willingness to obtain Red Seal required)
- Actively working in the trade with strong knowledge of construction practices and safety protocols
- Proficiency in blueprint reading, layout, and materials estimation
- Competency with hand and power tools, and safe work procedures
- WHMIS 2015 (required)
- First Aid/CPR (preferred)
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision
- Clear communication with superintendent, crew, and other stakeholders
- Adaptability and solid time‑management skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with a large general contractor
- Concrete and formwork experience
- Valid driver’s licence and clean abstract
- Certifications such as Fall Protection, Elevating Work Platforms, or other site‑related ticket
