About the Role:
Vitacore is seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Finance to lead the Company’s financial planning, reporting, forecasting, and financial operations.
This role will work closely with the President and senior leadership team to translate financial data into clear, actionable information that supports both immediate business decisions and long-term planning. The successful candidate will be able to assess where the business stands today, model where it is heading, identify financial risks and opportunities, and communicate that information clearly to management and the Board of Directors.
This is not a role limited to historical reporting. We are looking for someone who can use financial information to help shape the future of the business.
The Director of Finance will also oversee the Company’s accounting function and manage and develop the Accountant, while remaining willing to work directly with the details when required.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead the Company’s budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and financial analysis processes.
- Develop short- and long-term financial forecasts based on historical performance, current operations, expected growth, and strategic initiatives.
- Maintain and develop cash flow forecasts and working capital planning.
- Prepare financial models and scenario analyses to support strategic and operational decisions.
- Provide leadership with clear recommendations based on financial data and business performance.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management reporting packages.
- Prepare financial information, analysis, presentations, and supporting materials for the Board of Directors.
- Clearly communicate financial results, risks, trends, variances, and opportunities to non-financial stakeholders.
- Develop and monitor budgets by business unit, department, product, or project as appropriate.
- Analyze actual performance against budgets and forecasts and identify key drivers of variance.
- Develop financial KPIs and reporting tools to improve visibility into company performance.
- Support pricing, margin analysis, capital investment decisions, new business initiatives, and commercial opportunities.
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and month-end processes.
- Manage and mentor the Accountant and provide oversight of the accounting function.
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of the Company’s financial records.
- Lead or support year-end financial statement preparation and external audit or review processes.
- Develop and strengthen financial controls, policies, procedures, and reporting processes as the Company grows.
- Work collaboratively across departments to improve financial accountability and planning.
- Support financing, banking, tax, insurance, grant, and other financial matters as required.
- Take on additional strategic financial projects as the needs of the business evolve.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related discipline.
- CPA designation preferred.
- Significant progressive experience in accounting, finance, financial planning and analysis, or a similar discipline.
- Strong financial modelling, forecasting, budgeting, and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex financial information into concise, decision-useful reporting.
- Experience preparing information for executive teams, Boards of Directors, investors, lenders, or similar stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of financial statements, cash flow, working capital, profitability, and business performance.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and financial modelling skills.
- Experience leading or managing accounting staff.
- Ability to operate at both a strategic and detailed level.
- Strong business judgement and commercial awareness.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment with changing priorities and developing processes.
- Highly proactive, practical, resourceful, and comfortable building systems rather than relying on established corporate infrastructure.
Compensation:
- $120,000 to $140,000 annual salary.
- Health & Dental benefits.
- 3 weeks paid vacation.
- Tuition Assistance Program.
- Multiple company events throughout the year.
