REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Enforcement and Regulatory Services LOCATION: Initial Placement – Burford Customer Service Office Minimum Qualifications: Post-secondary education in Police Foundations, Law and Security, Investigative Studies or equivalent Demonstrated experience in law enforcement Ability to research and interpret municipal by-laws and provincial statutes including the Provincial Offences Act, Dog Owner’s Liability Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with the public, peers, supervisory staff, other departments and other agencies in both verbal and written format Excellent customer service and conflict resolution skills Ability to maintain professionalism in stressful situations Ability to organize work and resources in a fast-paced team environment Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications Demonstrated safe work practices Valid class G driver’s license with acceptable driver’s abstract Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check Assets: OAPSO (Ontario Association of Property Standards Officers) certification MLEO (Municipal Law Enforcement Officers) certification Duties: Maintain public compliance of municipal and provincial regulations through education and enforcement Receive, investigate and document complaints with respect to contraventions of the Dog Owner ’s Liability Act and Municipal Bylaws, including property standards, site alteration, parking, animal control, noise, signs, fences, watering restrictions, parks and road use Initiate court proceedings or administrative penalties and testify at hearings as required Due to operational requirements, the incumbent must be available to work nights, afternoons and weekends Other duties as assigned Hourly Rate Range – $38.91 – $45.52 – Up to 21 hours per week The application deadline is 9:00 a.m.
