Reporting to the Associate Director, Philanthropic Partnerships (Principal Gifts), the Development Coordinator (Coordinator) is an essential member of the Development team, providing program implementation and coordination to the Principal Gift program and building relationships both internally and externally for UVic.
About Principal Gifts :
The Principal Gifts team plays a leadership role by strategically guiding UVic’s engagement with prospects for $1M+ gifts. The Principal Gifts team works in close collaboration with the AVP, Alumni & Development and executive members, senior academic and administrative leaders, and fundraisers at all UVic faculties and units, and leads the development of fundraising strategies and engagement plans for those individuals with transformational gift capacity. UVic is currently in the quiet phase of its first comprehensive campaign and Principal Gifts plays a key role in prospect engagement with the university’s strategic priorities.

Job Summary
Mandate :
The Development Coordinator is responsible for providing program implementation and coordination to development programs. This position is instrumental in the on-going planning and delivery of fundraising programs and services designed to facilitate a lifelong relationship with UVic donors, alumni and students.
Alumni & Development is the unit of the university responsible for creating strong relationships and building philanthropic commitment between the University of Victoria and its alumni and friends.
It comprises a committed staff team who work both centrally and in faculties and units to identify opportunities where faculty, staff, donors, and alumni can be instrumental to enhancing UVic’s programs, research, and student support.
The role of the Development Coordinator is to provide direct support to the planning and execution of an effective major gift program.
Objectives :
The Development Coordinator will be responsible for fulfilling activities and duties that support the university’s major gift fundraising efforts. The incumbent will conduct initial prospect research, support the planning of cultivation and solicitation strategies, support donor relations and stewardship activities, assist with fundraising projects, draft communications and correspondence, collaborate on alumni relations activities as required and support data management and the maintenance of digital records.
This role will be required to work independently and demonstrate a high level of initiative while being in a dynamic team environment where flexibility and multi-tasking is essential.
Job Requirements
This position requires a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of relevant experience. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
