What to expect:
This role is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction across a range of welding topics, combining both theoretical knowledge and practical application. The ideal candidate will bring a solid technical foundation in welding and a passion for education, helping to prepare students for successful careers in the skilled trades and assisting existing welding professionals in gaining new skills.
The instructor will be responsible for teaching a variety of welding programs, including structural steel welding, pressure welding, youth-focused training, and courses that explore emerging and innovative welding technologies. This position requires a commitment to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment, as well as staying current with industry practices and standards. Strong communication skills and a genuine interest in student success are essential, along with the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs.
This includes:
Training Delivery
- Delivers practical skills upgrading and theory training on a variety of welding related subjects (SMAW, GMAW, FCAW etc.)
- Provides subject matter expertise on emerging trends in welding education and course delivery
- Works cross departmentally to ensure training materials are up to date and relevant for course delivery
- Strives to continuously improve the quality of CWB in-class education related to new innovative technologies (orbital welding, cobots, automation, lasers etc.)
- Responsible to adhere to the highest level of health and safety in their own role at all times, while also ensuring that all participants have been properly advised of risks, are using PPE, and are being monitored appropriately while using welding equipment.
- Monitor class grades and attendance to ensure successful program delivery. •
Administrative & Support Functions
- Influences the customer’s perception of the client value proposition through effective training session delivery
- Responds promptly to customer requests for information about training products, taking ownership for getting things done;
- When required, coordinates with Funded Program Managers to ensure requirements of funded training programs are adhered to, providing reporting information as needed
- Supports Education management team with on-site coordination of programming and facilities, as required. ( ongoing equipment checks, consumables monitoring, PPE inventory, other classroom materials, etc.)
Other duties as assigned:
- Represent the CWB Group at industry events as required
- Other duties as designated by the Supervisor, Training & Delivery
In this position, you will report to the Supervisor, Training and Delivery and will work out of CWB Group Milton, Ontario facility and Approximately 90% of the time, instruction will take place at the Milton facility. CWB has adopted a remote-first working model, where employees will work from their home office, servicing the client within their specified areas either remotely or in person. We are embracing radical flexibility, where employees are encouraged to work a schedule that works best for them, their team, and their clients.
What you bring to the table:
- Completed 2-3 year course in Welding Technician/Technologist Program or completion of apprenticeship/ red seal
- 5 years relevant teaching experience
- Thorough knowledge of teaching best practices partnered with a willingness to follow the CWB’s policies and procedures
- Experience training learners in both a classroom environment and/or a one-on-one basis an asset
- Holds or has held relevant CWB qualifications/certification
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to deliver presentations and develop educational materials.
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster customer relationships
- Proficient in Microsoft office applications
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
