In this full-time position as a maintenance operator, you will be responsible for, but not limited to, assisting in the general maintenance, preventative maintenance programs and asset management for the Oshawa Facility. The ideal candidate will work with the preventative maintenance coordinator and Facility Manager to diagnose and troubleshoot day-to-day equipment issues and develop maintenance programs and procedures, equipment inventory systems, working with project managers and equipment suppliers / installers. The ideal candidate will also be responsible for responding to emergency and general repairs and have a proactive approach towards maintenance with directions from the preventative maintenance coordinator and Facility Manager.
• Implements the maintenance program based on planning / scheduling.
• Performs preventative maintenance, repairs, and inspections for all facility equipment/assets.
• Works with suppliers / contractors as required.
• Maintains service, supplier and contractor relationships as per the values and objectives of McAsphalt.
• Monitors the use and inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies, and equipment; and initiates reordering when necessary.
• Maintains and repairs maintenance facility equipment.
• Uses JDE program to create / maintain / close work orders.
• Works with the maintenance department, including millwrights and electricians.
• Assists with engineering projects as required at the Oshawa Facility.
• Minimum High School/College Diploma.
• Strong mechanical aptitude. Experience with plumbing, welding, electrical and other general maintenance knowledge.
• Ability to work outdoors in all environments.
• Ability to work at heights.
• Some knowledge about forklifts, scissor lifts and cranes.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the construction field.
• Knowledge of production processes, pumps, piping, heat tracing, hot oil heaters, scale equipment, electrical equipment, etc.
• Strong work ethic and ability to work in small teams.
Day Shift – Monday to Friday (7:00 AM – 4:00PM).
The successful candidate will be working 40+ hours per week in a fast-paced facility setting. This role requires the successful candidate to be on-call for emergencies, and overtime will be a requirement of this position. Minimal travel may be required for training purposes.
The successful candidate will be required to frequently sit, stand, lift, twist, climb, and lift upwards of 50 lbs. on a frequent basis.
