JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for commissioning, diagnosing, and repairing temperature control systems by applying knowledge of airflow, refrigeration, hydronics, digital controls, and control techniques.

MAIN FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsible for servicing the equipment for assigned projects and ensuring customer satisfaction. Uses hand tools and interprets drawings, plans, and specifications to diagnose issues and carry out repairs. Analyzes, diagnoses, and repairs customer systems and equipment. Performs preventive maintenance, site assessments, replacements, and modifications according to customer needs or requests. Before work and repairs at the job site, reviews building layouts, anticipates difficulties, gathers the necessary materials, and coordinates the work as required. Inspects vehicles and ensures the necessary literature for their maintenance is available. Ensures vehicle upkeep: keeps service manuals and arranges for repair and maintenance work as needed. Ensures equipment and tools are maintained by carrying out regular inspections for signs of wear. Represents the company by serving as the direct point of contact with customers. Provides training at customer sites. Provides sales leads to project managers. Identifies the parts to be ordered to carry out the work and determines when orders should be placed. Documents each project by completing timesheets, progress reports, and job duration records, and ensures records are maintained. Records materials, parts, labour, and all costs related to each task and returns unused resources. Provides documents and reports within prescribed deadlines. Keeps knowledge up to date regarding the installation, maintenance, operation, service, and repair of Trane products. Reads and interprets specifications, drawings, and product and building designs. Provides technical support to customers. May occasionally be required to travel and stay overnight for one or more nights. Must be available to work overtime and/or on weekends as needed.

REQUIREMENTS

Technical or vocational diploma with a certificate in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning and five years of experience in a similar position, seven years of experience in a similar position, or any equivalent combination of work experience and education. Communication skills Mathematical aptitude Reasoning ability Driver’s licence, halocarbon certification, and licence preferred (MMF Class 4a)

This position requires working outdoors, in mechanical rooms, and possibly in extreme conditions and temperatures. In the course of performing duties, the employee is often exposed to moving mechanical parts, heavy equipment, precarious and elevated locations, wet conditions, fumes and airborne particles, vibrations, and risks of electrical shock (high voltage). They are occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually high.
