The Senior Program Specialist, Build Support Program will be responsible for the build support project specifically VIMS, modules and fabricated parts. They will establish the policies and procedures and lead the development of program management plans. They will work with internal and external partners to establish policies and procedures, manage contract amendments, develop strategic agreements, and develop the contracting methodology on ongoing programs. Additionally, this role will involve working with our partners to define performance measures, drive quality control improvements, provide input into program risk management, and enhance cost control measures and procedures.
Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 825 Admirals Road, Victoria.
What you'll do
- Assists Program Director and Production managers in the coordination and execution of assigned program and project activities and deliverables.
- Works closely with various departments and the client to ensure the programs deliver on expectations
- Initiates, sets and delivers program goals that align with business objectives
- Maintains strong and effective relationships with internal and external partners
- Develops or assists in the generation of management plans, proposals, business cases, estimates, risk mitigation actions, plans and schedules
- Provides project management support in the coordination and execution of assigned projects. Works closely with cross-discipline shipyard teams, including but not limited to estimating, commercial, project controls, engineering and ILS
- Controls and monitors the work, collating the data and KPIs to measure performance
- Produces management reports and presentations that demonstrate project/program status against established goals and plans
- Attends and, as required, moderates regular review meetings
- Collaborates with both internal and external partners to resolve outstanding issues
- Responsible for the application of a suitable program management framework, ensuring that gate reviews are conducted at appropriate points during the program lifecycle
- Change management assessment for ongoing work as the project, develops the customer requirements change, assessment of the impact is critical
- Contribute to EV management for all commodities, specifically Build support program related
- Other duties as assigned
What you'll bring
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering, accounting or business is preferred
- 5-8 years’ experience in heavy industry (manufacturing, shipbuilding, ship repair or construction)
- Preferences may given to applicants who are certified or actively working towards a project management qualification
- Demonstrated experience with complex projects and/or programs, including RFP/RFQ responses and bid proposals
- Detailed understanding of project management techniques and methods
- Excellent judgement and prioritization skills
- Effective and efficient communication
- Strong report writing skills, both business and technical.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to and some experience with developing strategy
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with Government of Canada contracting

The estimated salary for this position is $112,500 - $137,500. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate’s skills and experience as well as position location and internal equity. The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
