Notary Business Law

About the Role:

A growing legal practice is seeking a skilled Notary Business Law to advise entrepreneurs, startups, and established businesses on a wide range of corporate and commercial matters. This is an excellent opportunity for a notary with strong business law expertise who enjoys building client relationships and providing practical legal guidance throughout the business lifecycle, from incorporation and corporate structuring to transactions and ongoing advisory services.

The successful candidate will manage files independently while collaborating with experienced legal professionals on complex mandates. Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients on business and commercial law matters, including incorporations, corporate reorganizations, and corporate governance.
  • Draft, review, and authenticate notarial deeds and legal documents related to corporate and commercial transactions.
  • Assist with business acquisitions, mergers, restructurings, and other corporate transactions.
  • Prepare and review shareholder agreements, partnership agreements, corporate resolutions, and related legal documentation.
  • Conduct legal research and provide practical recommendations on business law matters.
  • Manage client files from initial consultation through completion, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable legal requirements.
  • Coordinate with clients, accountants, financial advisors, and other professional stakeholders.
  • Identify potential legal risks and develop strategies to address issues arising from business operations and transactions.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure the timely completion of notarial and corporate matters.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships by providing responsive, professional, and client-focused service.

Required Qualifications:

  • Licensed Notary in Quebec or eligible for admission to practice as a notary in Quebec.
  • Strong knowledge of business law, corporate law, and commercial transactions.
  • Demonstrated experience managing corporate and commercial files.
  • Excellent legal drafting skills and proficiency in preparing notarial deeds and corporate documentation.
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong client relationship management skills and a professional, service-oriented approach.
  • Proficiency in legal research platforms, notarial software, and relevant document management tools.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues and external stakeholders.
