The Coatings Superintendent is responsible for performing, directing and managing field personnel during coatings construction activities related to municipal water storage tanks. The Coatings Superintendent should be experienced in all aspects of industrial blasting, painting, and coatings. This role serves as a key field leader and site representative, fostering a culture of safety, quality, and teamwork.
Essential Functions:
- Directs the day-to-day work activities of coatings construction personnel; Responsible to ensure project and organizational objectives are met safely, with a high standard of consistent quality, and profitably; Inspects work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to drawings, specifications, Company standards, procedures and quality expectations.
- Understands and is knowledgeable of internal standards, policies, and procedures for execution of construction operations; Identifies areas for improvement, develops solutions, and implements changes.
- Ensures field personnel are accountable for assigned tasks/projects; Works to ensure that sufficient plans and preparation have been made to allow quality work to be completed in a safe and efficient manner.
- Liaise with Safety Coordinator, Quality Coordinator, and office coordination supervision to ensure high quality work is produced in a safe, efficient manner; Interacts on-site as needed to ensure full compliance.
- Models organizational values; Sets standard for behavior congruent with company ethics, morals, and expectations; Demonstrates character of integrity in day-to-day tasks; Supports company's strategic plan, goals and ideas communicating the core values of the Company through leadership and example.
- Ensures safety policies, procedures, and applicable guidelines are properly followed; Enforce company expectations for all employees in regard to safety, quality, attendance, attitude, effort, employee relations and responsibility for self and others.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 7 years of similar experience of progressive responsibility in a supervisory role in a construction execution capacity.
- Demonstrated experience with coating systems and surface preparation.
- Experience directing, training, and motivating field personnel.
- Knowledge and experience overseeing multiple jobs.
- Proficient in documentation and reporting, both digital and handwritten.
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and travel as needed.
- Commitment to upholding high standards of business conduct and maintaining a positive, professional attitude.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- CPR and First Aid Certification preferred.
