Job description

Position Overview

Kiewit is one of North America’s largest and most respected engineering and construction organizations building infrastructure across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. With our roots dating back to 1884, Kiewit has sustained a strong culture built on hard work, integrity, and a collaborative team environment.

Kiewit's Project Engineers are at the core of our construction operations, ensuring that projects are executed on schedule, within scope, and under budget. You will be part of a team that delivers successful projects in markets such as transportation, water/wastewater, and power. We are seeking professionals who bring technical expertise, leadership skills in construction field operations, and a passion for safety to ensure Nobody Gets Hurt.

District Overview

Kiewit’s Western Canada District is headquartered in Burnaby, British Columbia. We primarily perform heavy civil projects specializing in earth moving, transportation, roadways, bridges, water resources, and underground utilities. We are looking for hard working individuals with a passion for construction who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty!

Location

One of the many things that makes Kiewit’s culture unique is that we go where the work is, which exposes your career to abundant opportunities. We relocate our teams based on the work that is available, combined with the development plans, skill sets and career goals of each team member. This means your Kiewit adventure is custom-designed to meet our shared needs. #LI-RP1

Our current opportunities are spread across the entire West Coast of Canada and the USA. Travel or relocation may be required for current and upcoming projects.

Responsibilities

  • Project Planning & Execution: Assist with project planning, scheduling, and coordination to ensure that construction activities comply with project requirements and Kiewit standards.
  • Engineering & Technical Support: Provide engineering support and solutions to address technical challenges, improve productivity, and optimize project designs.
  • Project Management: Work closely with the Project Manager and Superintendent to monitor project progress, manage subcontractors, and ensure that safety, quality, and environmental standards are met.
  • Cost Management & Reporting: Monitor and manage project costs and budgets, review daily job costs, and produce accurate reports for tracking and forecasting purposes.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Oversee project documentation, including RFI logs, submittals, permits, drawings, and specifications, ensuring all documentation is current and accessible.
  • Quality Control: Conduct inspections and monitor quality throughout the project lifecycle, collaborating with the quality team to resolve issues and achieve project quality standards.
  • Client & Stakeholder Relations: Foster positive relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure collaborative and effective project delivery.

Qualifications

  • 6-10 years of experience in construction operations, preferably in infrastructure, heavy civil, or industrial sectors.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, P6, HCSS) and Microsoft Office Suite; understanding of engineering principles, construction processes, and safety protocols.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng) preferred but not required.
  • Proven ability to lead a team of construction professionals and collaborate effectively across project teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt to project challenges.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively liaise with internal teams, clients, and project stakeholders.
Other Requirements:
  • Regular, reliable attendance
  • Work productively and meet deadlines timely
  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment
  • Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
  • Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.
  • May work at various different locations and conditions may vary
Compensation: $95,000 - $115,000+
  • Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location
  • We offer our fulltime staff employees a comprehensive benefits package that’s among the best in our industry, including top-tier medical, dental and vision plans covering eligible employees and dependents, voluntary wellness and employee assistance programs, life insurance, disability, retirement plans with matching, and generous paid time off.
  • We believe in equal opportunity in employment practices without discrimination and comply with all laws regarding human rights in the provinces where we operate.
We offer our full-time staff employees a comprehensive benefits package that’s among the best in our industry. From top-tier health care programs to employee assistance programs and retirement planning, we aim to provide you with the tools you need to be successful in the areas of life that matter most to you.
