Technical Specialist 2

Department: Product Integrity
Reports to: Senior Manager, Product Integrity

Your Opportunity at ARC’TERYX

As the Technical Specialist 2 for Veilance, you play a pivotal role in safeguarding Arc’teryx brand integrity by upholding global standards for product construction, manufacturing best practices, and quality protocols across all Veilance product categories and production locations. Acting as a subject matter expert, you ensure Veilance products deliver best‑in‑class performance, weather protection, comfort, modularity, and a refined urban aesthetic. You collaborate with cross‑functional teams and external partners to guarantee that product and process standards are clearly understood, consistently implemented, and rigorously maintained.

Meet Your Future Team

The Product Integrity team ensures that all products are constructed in accordance with Arc’teryx quality standards. We safeguard brand product integrity through establishing best practices and ensuring stringent adherence to specification and construction methods. We secure bulk readiness and support growth plans with existing and new vendors by providing guidance on both current application and new methods of handling product and material processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Design and Product Development during the Maker’s Phase to provide technical feedback and ensure products meet Arc’teryx standards.
  • Provide guidance on performance‑driven urban fashion lines that combine high‑performance materials and advanced construction with a minimalist aesthetic.
  • Attend design initiations, prototype reviews, buy‑ready signoffs, and seasonal meetings to advise on new models, constructions, and materials.
  • Contribute to the development of climate‑control layering systems adaptable to diverse conditions, across a range from accessories to insulated outerwear.
  • Collaborate with Design and Product Development to create products featuring advanced construction details such as fully taped seams, laminated cuffs, adjustable stow hood that can be concealed within the collar, discreet pockets with hidden zippers, and laminated cuffs and hems for a clean finish and added weather protection.
  • Ensure garments provide superior weather protection using materials like GORE‑TEX, GORE‑TEX PRO, and softshell fabrics with DWR finishes for durability and breathability.
  • Collaborate with Materials Development and Advanced Concepts teams during R&D stages, advising on finished goods testing requirements and quality standards. Review test reports, and physical samples of new models.
  • Provide technical guidance to suppliers and labs on brand standards, testing, and quality requirements in partnership with cross‑functional teams.
  • Create and update protocols for Veilance products and critical‑to‑quality operations to enhance quality manuals, specification manuals, and tutorials.
  • Maintain regular communication with Asia teams and vendors to ensure protocols are understood and followed.
  • Collaborate closely with Design, Development, and Materials teams in North Vancouver and Asia throughout the I2C process until pre‑production sample approval.
  • Review tech packs and construction elements for accuracy and design‑for‑manufacturing (DFM), focusing on sampling challenges for new and transition models.
  • Conduct seasonal technical quality reviews (TQR) of prototypes and samples.
  • Approve sealed samples at size set stage for bulk production.
  • Prepare critical to quality (CTQ) instructions for new models and lead seasonal handover meetings to educate QC teams.
  • Risk assessments and oversee high‑risk models from development through bulk production.
  • Help review preventive actions such as pilot runs and TOP for high‑risk models.
  • Support onboarding programs for new vendors and contribute to sourcing exploration and qualification assessments.
  • Support in achieving departmental KPIs and objectives.

Future Projects

  • Consolidate category‑specific standards and protocols into comprehensive quality and specification manuals.
  • Build a defect classification library with photo and physical references.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of apparel product or technical development experience, including 3+ years as a subject matter expert in tailored and laminated products.
  • Expertise in minimalist design and advanced technical construction for urban wear, including tailored details (e.g., blazers, trousers, coats).
  • Knowledge of technical construction methods such as taped seams, articulated patterns, and concealed features.
  • Strong understanding of high‑performance materials, waterproof lamination techniques, and insulation technologies.
  • Knowledge of advanced apparel design and pattern making.
  • Experience with lab and field testing for material performance and durability.
  • Ability to evaluate supplier capabilities and collaborate on commercialization of new products.
  • Familiarity with the product lifecycle from concept to market launch.
  • Proven ability to coach and train others.
  • Exceptional communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.
  • Highly organized, adaptable, and proactive in problem‑solving.
  • Fluency in Cantonese or Mandarin is an asset.
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • Passion for continuous improvement, innovation, and the outdoors.
  • Alignment with Arc’teryx brand values.
