Preclinical Animal Care Attendant

Allarta Life Science is a pre-clinical life science company based in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, developing next generation biomaterials for immune-privileged delivery of cells, stem cells and biologics.

We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Animal Care Attendant to join our dynamic team.

Responsibilities :

• Provide daily care and husbandry for small and larger animals, according to established protocols and procedures.
• Assist in the monitoring of animal health and behaviour, reporting any concerns to the veterinary staff.
• Assist with the handling and restraint of animals during procedures.
• Provide assistance with post-mortem tissue sampling or examinations as required.
• Provide support to team members during procedures.
• Take notes and maintain detailed records of surgical procedures and follow up care.
• Manage room bookings and order supplies as necessary.
• Record, analyze, and interpret data, communicating findings to management and team members on a regular basis.
• Actively participate in team meetings.
• Assist with inventory management of animals, including ordering and receiving.
• Coordinate with laboratory team members in lab to ensure proper inventory and transport of supplies between the laboratory and the animal facility.
• Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to ensure the well-being and care of our animals.

Requirements :

• Certification or experience working as an Animal Care Attendant is preferred.
• Previous experience in a preclinical research setting, or working with rodents, is an asset.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to work well independently, and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to interact professionally with colleagues.
