Job Summary
Bringing Calgary Public Library’s strategic plan to life, customer service team members engage directly with users in support of literacy and lifelong learning both within the Library and out in the community.
These positions provide responsive and friendly customer service and creates enriching library experiences for members of all ages, abilities and backgrounds through the delivery of specific Library programs that inspire wonder, play, and delight.

Responsibilities and Activities
Library Assistant Roles
Duties include :
- processing, shelving, and organizing library materials according to Library standards;
- supporting branch operational needs, including room and program set-up and takedown;
- and assisting members indirectly, by connecting them with others who can assist them, and directly by sharing basic information about Library services and programs, and being attentive and responsive to the needs and expectations of Library users.
Customer Service Roles
Duties include :
- working alongside users to help them develop skills to navigate the information universe and the Library's electronic and physical resources and technology (e.
- g. computers, printers and wireless networks);
- engaging with users of all ages about their reading interests; delivering specific programs, activities, tours, and orientations;
- and promoting the Library, Library membership, and attendance at Library programs.
Senior customer service role responsibilities could also include shift supervision, delivering programming and outreach activities.
