Position Overview
The Asset Protection Specialist (APS) is primarily responsible for preventing financial loss caused by theft and fraud, organized retail crime and supporting safety and environmental program compliance in their assigned store(s). The APS will drive execution of the Company’s internal and external theft and fraud strategy and utilize several tools to minimize loss to the Company. The APS must demonstrate integrity at all times, respond to and support key AP and operational concerns of all associates and remain focused on store specific business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Building Relationships
- Communicate with APSS (Asset Protection Specialist Supervisor) and MAPM (Market Asset Protection Manager) on internal and external investigations and physical security within the store
- Maintain an open channel of communication with store management and all associates. Partner with store management to drive AP issues
- Drive a ‘Shrink Elimination’ culture within the store environment
- Participate in the In Focus program
Compliance
Detain and interview persons apprehended for shoplifting in accordance with local laws and company proceduresDrive execution of store safety programs and validate compliance with company standards and policies. Validate environmental compliance to company standards.Check physical security of The Home Depot facilities to prevent and deter theft / fraudulent activityWrite reports documenting apprehensions and recoveries, preserve evidence and interact with law enforcementRepresent the Home Depot in a professional manner throughout all court-related proceduresBuild Skills and Knowledge

High School Diploma or GEDMinimum Years Of Work Experience
1+ year(s) experience as a retail-related Loss Prevention Investigator (or equivalent) preferredMinimum Leadership Experience

Where applicable, Asset Protection associates are required to maintain a valid and up to date security guard license and / or private investigator license.Other Requirements / Assets
