Position Description
The DeGroote School of Business at McMaster University invites applications for a teaching-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Health Policy and Management Area.
The position will begin on July 1, 2024.
Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in Health Policy or Health Management or a related field. The successful candidate must demonstrate a record of teaching excellence and a strong commitment to innovation in teaching.
They will be expected to contribute extensively to the School’s academic programs at both its Hamilton and Burlington locations, teach courses in a range of programs (including MBA and MHM programs), and across a wide range of health courses including, but not limited to, health policy analysis, economic evaluation of health programs, health communications, population health, international health systems, and healthcare finance.
The successful candidate will have extensive experience teaching courses delivered in-person, online, and in blended formats and will have experience supervising master’s or undergraduate level student research projects and scholarly papers.
University teaching experience that includes teaching regulated health professionals and adult learners is preferred, with a minimum of two years of full-time teaching experience at a university.
Teaching responsibilities may include a mixture of day classes, evening sessions as well as full day weekend sessions. Normally, this position will have a teaching load of eight course-sections per year.
The Health Policy and Management Area supports a culture that embraces interdisciplinary collaboration; drives the creation and application of evidence-based knowledge;
and promotes collegial activity both within the School of Business and across faculties. The DeGroote School of Business is one of six faculties at McMaster University, and we believe in experiential learning : complementing classroom studies with hands-on experience.
The successful candidate will be expected to keep abreast of developments in the discipline, participate in the ongoing development of curricula, serve on Area committees, and support the School’s initiatives within the business, academic and other external communities.
Conducting pedagogical research is also encouraged.
