Logistics Technician - Contract

Who is the employer?
The has partnered with our client, a federally certified marine response organization that is affiliated with a large Oil & Gas company and independently operated and dedicated to Oil Spill Response.
Now they are looking for you : their Logistics Technician to join their team.
What you will be doing :
You will play a pivotal role within the client by overseeing in-house logistics operations, you will report directly to the General Manager and will be responsible for procuring response equipment and services, coordinating personnel and equipment mobilization for marine oil spill responses.
You will contribute to the readiness and efficiency of the Environmental Response Team (ERT), ensuring preparedness for Marine Oil Spill Response in the Bay of Fundy.
Practically speaking, you will :
- Procure supplies, services, tools, equipment, material, and personnel as needed for response operations
- Ensure timely delivery of equipment and services
- Collaborate with the Operations section to establish Staging Areas for equipment distribution at response sites
- Provide essential services such as food, sanitation, and vehicle fueling during operations
- Maintain and update Client Rate and Resource Guide as required
- Manage budget and spending levels, with approval from the General Manager (up to $5,000)
- Support various sections including Planning, Operations, Safety, Finance, and Administration by acquiring necessary resources
- Provide guidance to Planning, Operations, Safety, and Finance / Admin Sections
- Keep stakeholders informed of progress on objectives, including the General Manager, Planning, Operational, Safety, Finance, and Administration sections
- Have direct reports : Logistics Support personnel during Oil Spill Incidents or Response Training Exercises, additional contracted administrative support (if required).
The details :
This is a contract position for 3 months to start with a high possibility of extension for a longer time. The ideal candidate will be based in Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada area and work 40 hours / week from 8 : 30 am to 4 pm in the office, Warehouse, Site visits.
The client is typically activated for emergency response work 1-3 times per year. Staff and Contractors are asked to participate on a case-by-case basis, depending on their availability at that time.
Compensation for emergency response work is provided above regular contract hours.
What you will bring :
- High School Diploma, some Secondary Education
- Previous experience in roles requiring plan execution, initiative, effective leadership.
- English language proficiency, and communication skills.
- Training in ICS 200 & 300.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, integrity, commitment to professional responsibility, strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and travel.
- Dedication, reliability, respectfulness, enthusiasm, willingness to respond 24 / 7, effective communication skills, and ability to lead teams.
- Self-starting ability, multitasking, priority setting, independent work, and teamwork, with the capability to track progress on tasks executed.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including Word, Excel, ACCPAC, and Outlook.
