Job Summary
Performs skilled painting and plastering work in preparing surfaces for painting and applying paint to interior and exterior structures, furniture and equipment.
- Washes, scrapes, burns and sand paper surfaces preparatory to painting; putties slight defects in woodwork, patches holes in walls;
- erects scaffolding; cleans paint brushes, rollers, spray guns and other equipment used in the painting process; sparkles new gyproc, construction and sands and finishes same;
- puts up wall cover such as wallpaper and vinyl paper with adhesive and removes and installs vinyl tiles and wall base; maintains control of inventory;
and performs a variety of skilled plastering work.
Job Demands

The demands of the job occasionally result in fatigue, requiring periods of rest.
Lifting objects such as buckets of paint or boxes of plaster; and moving furniture and equipment weighing 25 to 50 lbs occurs on a regular basis.
Work involves standing and walking constantly in the performance of daily activities including climbing ladders, scaffolds and stairs;
as well as bending, kneeling, crawling and stretching when plastering; painting walls, baseboards, ceilings and working in confined spaces.
Manual or physical activities include constant fine finger or precision work when painting trim or straight lines; using hand tools such as a sander, grinder, rotary tools, etc;
using gross motor skills; and maintaining physical balance when climbing ladders or scaffolds.
Job Qualifications
Graduation from High School or equivalent.
A Journeyperson's Certificate in Painting / Plastering is required.
Three years' experience in painting in a commercial or industrial setting is required.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
