Job description

Who We Are

Simon Fraser University is a leading research university, advancing an inclusive and sustainable future. Our purpose – the essence of SFU – is to create and connect knowledge, learning and community for deeper understanding and meaningful impact. We are committed to fostering excellence, innovation, belonging and community in all that we do.

Academic Management Systems, part of IT Services at SFU, partners with Faculties and Faculty Relations to deliver systems that support academic operations. We are agile, cross‑functional teams of analysts, developers, and QA specialists who thrive on collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Our focus is building user‑centered IT solutions that simplify processes, improve efficiency, and enhance the SFU experience for faculty and staff.

SFU is embarking on a three‑year digital transformation through the Integrated Faculty Management System (IFMS) program. This initiative will modernize and unify workflows across faculty and administrative domains, supporting long‑term improvements in academic administration and advancing the university’s mission.

About the Role

The Senior Integration Architect leads the design and governance of the architecture that enables secure, scalable, and seamless integration of systems and data across the University’s enterprise digital ecosystem. The role develops standards and strategies for data flows, system interoperability, application programming interfaces (APIs), and automated data exchanges between platforms. The role ensures integration patterns support data quality, security, operational efficiency, and long‑term sustainability by defining architectures, implementing secure integrations, evaluating and recommending tools and technologies, and maintaining clear technical documentation and standards. Working within an Agile environment, the role collaborates with developers, business analysts, and cross‑unit technical teams to align integration activities with institutional goals and ensure security and compliance requirements are embedded into all aspects of design and execution. The role leverages cloud services and DevOps practices, such as those available in Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud, to deliver cloud‑based and hybrid integration solutions, modernizing legacy interconnectivity, applying infrastructure‑as‑code and continuous delivery methods to improve reliability and delivery speed.

The ideal candidate brings extensive experience in enterprise integration development within complex organizations. This role requires strategic thinking, excellent communication, and the ability to lead across interdependent technical teams.
