Position Summary
The Production Drafter is responsible for supporting mechanical design activities, developing and testing parametric automated SolidWorks models, and preparing accurate production documentation to support manufacturing operations. This role works under general direction and collaborates closely with engineering and production teams to ensure high-quality deliverables.
Responsibilities
- Create complex 2D and 3D parametric drawings for elevator components and products using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Improve, update, and develop mechanical designs to enhance functionality, manufacturability, and efficiency.
- Lead and support engineering system improvement projects, including process enhancements and workflow optimization.
- Manage and execute Engineering Change Orders (ECO), ensuring smooth integration of new or updated systems into production.
- Oversee and support the manufacturing of new components and assemblies to ensure quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications.
- Provide technical support to the production line by resolving assembly issues, tolerance discrepancies, and SolidWorks model / drawing errors.
- Create and maintain accurate data in the MRP system (MK), including item master data, bills of materials (BOMs), and routings.
- Develop, document, and enforce “best practices” for mechanical design and drafting, aligning with ISO 9001 standards.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Energetic, goal-oriented, and committed to continuous improvement.Highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on accuracy and quality.College diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.2–5 years of experience in manufacturing or engineering, preferably with exposure to tube bending processes.High mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of engineering and manufacturing practices.Proficient in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and related 3D / 2D design tools.Knowledge of engineering drawing standards, including ASME Y14.100 and ASME Y14.5M (GD&T).Proficient in Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and other relevant software tools.Why Join Savaria?
