Responsibilities
- Processing semi-monthly payroll for two entities
- Calculating and submitting payroll remittances for two entities
- Filing monthly reports with WorkSafe BC
- Filing monthly reports for Employer Health Tax (EHT)
- Calculating and withholding employee’s share of benefits premiums
- Supporting the Accounting Clerk with trust accounting compliance
- Filing quarterly Trust Administration Fee (TAF) reports
- Reconciling the trust account on a timely basis
- Reconciling bank accounts and credit cards
- Posting reconciling entries as necessary
- Calculating and submitting GST and PST remittances
- Processing accounts payable for non-billable expenses
- Calculating inter-company invoices
- Assisting the Controller with insurance renewals
- Assisting the Controller with pulling management reports
- Assisting with other general accounting tasks
- Responding to internal and external queries in a professional and timely manner
Key Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field or working towards an Accounting designation
- 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience
- Experience with full-cycle accounting in a legal firm
- Strong knowledge of trust accounting
- Proficiency with Word, Excel, PDF and Outlook
- Knowledge of ProLaw is a strong asset
- Knowledge of QuickBooks is an asset
- Strong attention to detail
- Client service oriented
- Ability to excel in a high volume, fast-paced environment
- Willingness to take on new responsibilities as needed
