We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated Program Housing Assistant who demonstrates our values of compassion, accountability, responsiveness and empowerment; to our clients, families and each other.

Reporting to the Managers of Halton Housing Services, this position will assist in providing intake supports and carrying out day-to-day administrative services. Wesley Halton Housing offers services to the homeless in Halton Region, supporting homeless families and individuals in a transitional program on-site. Services are based on a client-centered, residential harm reduction and housing first approach delivery model.

The position is part of a team that provides 24 / 7 coverage. The position works rotating twelve-hour shifts including weekends and statutory holidays. This is a 2-year, unionized, full-time temporary contract position. The rate of pay is $22.07 / hour. This position is 42 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities :

On-Call & Intake

• Responsible to complete on-call assessment protocols before admitting individuals or families to temporary housing program, coordinated through Halton 311,
• Screen applicants for any recent, current or ongoing experience with domestic violence and make referrals to appropriate programs.
• To provide set-up supports to new intakes into the program, including rules and regulations of program, participant consent & confidentiality forms, and other intake tasks
• To create and maintain a welcoming and safe housing environment within the current 24 hour, 7 days a week service model.
• Complete pre and post move in inspections of on-site units to ensure health and safety standards, in collaboration with the programs Health & Safety Officer & Property Manager
