Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Civil Technologist to join our Group in our Greater Toronto Area (GTA) or Waterloo, Ontario, Canada offices. In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team of technologists and providing technical expertise in civil engineering projects. This position offers a great opportunity to contribute to the success of diverse projects while fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an Intermediate Civil Technologist to join our team. This position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of civil infrastructure, earthworks, land development, municipal servicing, stormwater management, and environmental projects throughout Ontario.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the development of civil engineering designs and construction documentation using Civil 3D and AutoCAD. Working closely with engineers, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams, you will support projects from concept development through detailed design and construction. The role is primarily office-based and design-focused, with occasional opportunities to participate in field assignments and site visits. The position draws upon transferable civil design skills that may be applied across multiple sectors, including municipal, land development, environmental, and solid waste projects.

Working with an energetic and high-performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:
Civil Design and Drafting
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings and construction documentation using Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
- Manage civil drawing packages through concept, design review, tender, issued-for-construction, and as-built stages, including drawing lists,revisions, drawing updates, and incorporation of review comments
- Maintain organized Civil 3D models, external references, surfaces, sheet files, and supporting digital design information in accordance with project and company standards.
- Develop and manage Civil 3D surfaces, feature lines, alignments, profiles, corridors, and pipe networks.
- Prepare grading, earthworks, drainage, road design, servicing, and stormwater management drawings.
- Complete earthworks modelling, cut-and-fill analysis, and quantity calculations.
- Support the design of municipal servicing infrastructure, including storm sewers, sanitary sewers, watermains, and related civil works.
- Assist with the preparation of technical calculations, reports, memoranda, and regulatory submissions.
- Coordinate design information with surveyors, engineers, environmental specialists, geotechnical teams, and other project stakeholders.
- Support drawing reviews, quality control processes, and the incorporation of review comments.
- Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and multidisciplinary coordination sessions.
- Import, manage, and review survey, LiDAR, GIS, orthophoto, and other spatial data used to develop existing-condition and design surfaces.
- Develop Civil 3D models and drawing packages from engineering concepts, markups, survey information, and design criteria, with review and direction from the responsible engineer.
Project Support
- Assist project managers with quantity estimates, budgeting support, and project documentation.
- Support the development of construction tender packages and engineering deliverables.
- Assist with construction administration and contractor coordination activities as required.
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams and external clients to support project delivery.
Field
- Build your technical skills in a primarily office-based role focused on civil design, drafting, and project documentation, while contributing to a collaborative project team. For those interested, optional field opportunities may include site visits, inspections, construction observations, and other project support activities. Training, guidance, and mentoring are available to help you develop confidence in both office-based responsibilities and any field assignments you choose to pursue, including environmental monitoring, site investigations, and land surveying.
- Depending on project needs and individual interests, opportunities may exist to support environmental monitoring programs, site investigations, and other field assignments.
What you will bring to the Team
- Civil Engineering Technology Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in Ontario.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in civil engineering design, municipal infrastructure, land development, earthworks, or related fields.
- Strong working knowledge of Civil 3D and AutoCAD.
- Demonstrated experience preparing grading plans, earthworks models, and construction drawings.
- Experience with site and road grading, drainage systems, underground servicing, and stormwater management infrastructure.
- Understanding of CAD/BIM standards, engineering drawings, and design documentation standards.
- Experience developing and managing 3D surface models and performing quantity calculations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Experience using Bluebeam Revu for drawing review, document control, and design markups.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Valid Ontario Class G Driver's Licence.
Preferred Qualifications and Additional Assets
- Certified Engineering Technologist ( designation, or actively pursuing a . designation.
- Experience using Civil 3D and AutoCAD for grading, site drainage, access roads, buried piping, and related civil infrastructure.
- Experience preparing civil engineering drawings, models, and construction documentation.
- Experience working with municipal agencies, contractors, regulatory authorities, and multidisciplinary consulting teams.
- Familiarity with pressure pipe design is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with construction inspection, contract administration, or construction support services is considered an asset.
- Familiarity with landfill design, solid waste infrastructure, environmental civil projects, or large-scale earthworks projects is considered an asset
- Familiarity supporting environmental or solid waste projects as part of a multidisciplinary design team is considered an asset.
