The Public Health Nurse is a key member of the health care team at Tlaamin Health, primarily responsible for promoting and protecting the optimal health, well-being and safety for families during all stages of life through universal targeted programming.

The successful applicant will be required to work in accordance with the BCGEU Collective Agreement as well as the applicable policies and procedures of Tlaamin Health and Tlaamin Nation. The successful applicant will be in good physical health. This position is open to applicants of all genders.

Key Responsibilities

Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Tlaamin policies, standards, practices and procedures as directed by the Director of Health. Maintains confidentiality as required pertaining to members, clients, employees and general matters of the Nation.

  Demonstrated knowledge and skills in community health nursing theory and practice within a client and family centred model of care.

  Critical Thinking - Demonstrated ability to assess safety and risk prior to entering familiar and unfamiliar home environments and to integrate and evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) to problem-solve effectively.

  Problem Solving - Demonstrated ability to manage any/all issues related to the public health environment internally and externally. To employ effective conflict resolution and reconciliation approaches, techniques, and strategies related to public health in community.

  Documentation - demonstrated ability to document timely and appropriate information in Mustimuxw - an electronic medical record (EMR) reporting system at Tlaamin Health, including assessments, decisions about client status, plans, interventions and client outcomes. Ability to effectively use related computer software, applications, and devices.

  Confidentiality - Demonstrated ability to maintain client/caregivers privacy and confidentiality with respect to communication, documentation, and data, including when travelling between client homes and office/care settings

Ability to communicate effectively through verbal, nonverbal, written, electronic and social media

Qualifications

• 
  Current practicing registration with the College of Registered Nurses of BC (CRNBC)
• 
  Bachelors Degree in Nursing
• 
  Completion of specialty nursing certificate/certified practice (CRNBC)
• 
  2 years recent, related public health nursing experience
• 
  Valid BC Drivers License

Working Conditions

Work is performed primarily in an office environment. Occasional travel to attend meetings or training is required.

Additional Information

As per the current Public Health Orders all employees working for Tlaamin Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Proof of vaccination status will be required.
