Essential Functions include :
Lead and Manage the Corporate Accounting Team, fostering a culture for growth and excellence.
Lead and manage month-end and year-end period closing and ensure that all reporting is completed on time.
Manage and Analyse the Balance sheet and General Ledger accounts. Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and organize routine balance sheet reviews with business partners to understand variances.
Ensure accuracy of financial data and oversee use of accounting practices to align with IFRS and KONE Accounting Standards (KAS).
Manage the accounting of payroll transactions (Salaries, deductions, and benefits) for unionized and non-unionized employees.
Coordinate timely completion of tax filings and government reports (i.e. HST, PST, Income Tax) and support payroll in ensuring timely filings of EHT, WSIB, and other payroll remittances such as union dues.
Manage any sales tax, income tax or corporate audits and provide effective resolution to disputes.
Oversee External and Intercompany Accounts Payable processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness of vendor payments and support offshore teams in managing AP Aging to keep AP cycles smooth.
Be a Finance Business Partner with stakeholders across the company (Frontline Units, Global Record to Report, Treasury, Area Leaders, etc).
Additional Responsibilities :
Prepare / approve relevant journal entries. Ensure that supporting documentation is provided in accordance with KONE Guidelines.
Assess accounting operations continuously, propose improvements, and implement processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Responsible for Treasury functions such as Cash flow forecast, bank reconciliations, bank relationships and management of bank accounts.
Support AR Team in Cash applications and other bank-related matters. Design and maintain accounting and internal control systems and procedures.
Participate in Budget and Forecasting sessions and report variances on key accounts.
Experience :
Minimum 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience; latest position being mid-level management.
Experience leading, coaching and developing a team of growing accounting professionals.
Experience in cross-functional business partnering.
Education :
Successful completion of a 4-year bachelor’s degree with a focus in Accounting, Finance; preference will be given to individuals with a CPA designation.
Skills, Knowledge and Specific Behaviors :
Experience with SAP / S4 HANA and Business Planning and Consolidation is considered as an asset.
Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures. Strong knowledge of Hedge Accounting, Deferred Taxes and Sales and Use Taxes.
Strong understanding of manufacturing and job costing is considered an asset.
Strong ability to analyze large data sets effectively and synthesize meaningful insights and actions.
Ability to effectively prioritize to meet demanding deadlines (month-end closing, budgeting season, forecasting, etc).
