Role Summary

Combine Cafe & Bar Shift Leader will report directly to the Restaurant Manager / Cafe Manager. Shift Leader is responsible and accountable for the Front of House operations including training, inventory, scheduling and supervision of all Front of House operations.

Combine Cafe & Bars’ Shift Leaders will be experts in our menu, how best to pair our diverse, well-curated mix of delicious food and beverage offerings all while ensuring a flawless execution of service.

As a part of Combine Cafe & Bar the Shift Leader will contribute to the positive and enthusiastic team environment who work together as a cohesive team with a focus of excellence in all that we do.

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure that excellent levels of service are being delivered to the guests during service.
  • Ensure that all equipment used is in safe working order, checked regularly and any faults are reported to management, while ensuring equipment is not used until safe.
  • Action guest concerns and compliments by praising staff and resolving complaints in a timely manner.
  • Comply with all Combine’s policies and procedures and rules and regulations.
  • Shift management in support of the management team.
  • Running food and performing table-side service during busy periods to support your serving team.
  • Assist the Restaurant Manager, Cafe Manager or Assistant Manager with all aspects of restaurant operations.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Ensures adherence to food safety regulations, hygiene and cleanliness as per Provincial and local standards.
  • Performs monthly inventory in a timely manner with price extensions.
  • Accountable and responsible for labor forecasting and scheduling based on business levels.
  • Ensures FOH labor cost is on the line to the budget.
  • Ensure that proper closing procedures are followed.
  • Ensures that fire plan knowledge and WHMIS training is kept up to date.
  • Complies with WCB rules and regulations and maintains awareness of any / all other relevant laws and statutes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned and directed by Restaurant Manager / Cafe Manager.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma
  • Minimum five years supervisory experience in a full service restaurant and bar.
  • Eligible to work in Canada

Skills and Abilities

  • Superior communication skills including the ability to retain, coach, mentor and develop staff
  • Ability to work with others in a fast paced customer service oriented environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi - task and coordinate multiple functions and activities.
  • Ability to effectively use business software.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends as business dictates
