Position: Full TimeSecurity Guard
Site: HHS - MILTON
Hours: Continental (1900-0700/0700-1900)
Payrate:
- $19.63/hr – $22.09/hr, based on the levelling system.
- Starting rate: Level 3 at $21.17/hr.
- Training Requirement: All Level 3 training must be completed within 8 months.
- If training is not completed within this timeframe, the pay rate will be adjusted to the appropriate level based on completed requirements.
Averaging Agreement: Overtime is Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours
Key responsibilities:
- Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
- Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
- Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
- Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
- Greeting and assisting visitors, patients, and hospital staff.
- De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
- Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately.
- Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort.
- Ensure all hospital policies protocols are followed.
- Address any violations onsite.
Requirements:
- A Valid Ontario Security Guard License
- Proficient in English (both oral and written)
- Degree in Police Foundations, Protection Security and Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services would be an asset
- Previous one year experience in healthcare security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
- Proof of double Covid Vaccination
- Immunization Record (measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and TB skin tests 1 and 2)
- Valid First Aid and CPR Level C Certification
- Able to provide a clean shaven face in order to pass a N95 mask fit test
- Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
- Applicants who do not possess these certifications can opt into Paladin's Use of Force (UOF)/Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
Please be aware: The UOF/MOAB certification is unpaid as it is a pre-employment requisite; however, Paladin will cover all the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
