Senior Supervisor Mine Operations
Lead and coordinate Mine Operations resources for Côté Gold. Lead the team to deliver safe, responsible and effective mine operations including oversight of the autonomous systems, mine production and mine services.
Support, coach, train and create space for the Mine Operations teams to be successful.
Key Responsibilities
Area 1 : Leading and coordinating Mine Operations resources.
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
- Understand mine plans and mine maintenance activities and collaborate closely with other shift supervisors, engineers, and maintenance personnel in preparing and coordinating mine supporting activities.
- Lead and empower employees in achieving world class support services and improve employee work performance and efficiency through mentorship and feedback.
- Ensure consistent instruction to the Mine Control Team in procedures, equipment coordination and the operation of the fleet management system.
- Efficiently and accurately roster and coordinate Mine Control personnel, contractors and other resources to ensure seamless operations.
- Ensure Minestar Mine Control Team training plans are implemented appropriately and in a timely manner.
- Optimize the fleet management system to minimize disruption and maximize productivity, efficiency and safety.
- Liaise with Technical departments to minimize impacts of production and maintenance delays.
- Provide and support communication links between production, maintenance, technical services, and operations employees.
- Create space for the team to be effective in delivering results.
- Foster an inclusive work environment.
- Provide clear work objectives and expectations of the performance levels required to achieve business plans and Services targets.
- Ensure that training is provided in accordance with the current and future needs of Côté Gold.
- Ensure the required resources (people and equipment) are in place to achieve targets.
- Promote a high performance culture by setting expectations, conducting performance reviews, and providing feedback and coaching.
- Offer new approaches, methods or policies to optimize performance and ensure compliance with industry regulations and organizational standards.
Area 2 : Operational excellence.
- Seek opportunities to improve mine operations including the autonomous haulage and autonomous drilling systems.
- Be proactive and solution driven and implement operational improvements.
- Commit to continuous learning and improvement.
- Continually seek to improve your skills as a Senior Supervisor, Mine Operations.
- Watch for inefficiencies or problems.
- Ensure problems and inefficiencies are shared with others.
- Work collaboratively to troubleshoot and resolve problems.
- Consider risk along the five dimensions (throughput, time, quality, sustainability and cost).
Area 3 : Work collaboratively with others to deliver operational reliability.
- Be a promoter of people, process and technology, developing Côté Gold as the mine of the future and establishing such culture.
- Provide leadership and direction to the Control Team, Supervisor, equipment operators and stakeholders to ensure that the business and mine plan objectives are met.
- Coordinate with other team members on site to meet shift deliverables.
- Mentor and train new team members.
- Participate in and lend your expertise to the team.
- Communicate clearly and effectively using the tools provided.
- Ensure equipment logs and shift logs are accurate and complete.
- Ensure any deficiencies are communicated to the appropriate team members for follow up.
- Participate in multi-disciplinary teams to deliver on our commitment to our team, our communities, the environment, and our shareholders.
Minimum Requirements and Nice To Haves
Minimum Qualifications, Formal Education, Certifications or Equivalents
- Grade 12 or Equivalent.
- College diplomas or university degrees in a related field such as mine engineering, robotics, or autonomous systems is considered an asset.
- Ministry Supervisor Training considered an asset.
Work Experience Nature & Length
- 10 years or more of open pit or autonomous mining experience.
- 5 years or more of control center experience is highly desirable, but not essential.
- Previous exposure to Autonomous Mining Systems is highly desirable, but not essential.
- Previous exposure to lean and multi-disciplinary team leadership is desirable, but not essential.
- Digital literacy and experience with fleet management systems is required.
- Experience in MineStar is an asset.
Additional Qualifications Competency Requirements
- Proficient in Fleet Management systems such as Minestar or similar at advanced user level.
- Can demonstrate skills and experience across developing a team across required training systems.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment operations work methods.
- Ability to make effective, intuitive decisions under pressure.
- Demonstrated ability to engage and empower multi-disciplinary teams.
- Proven communication skills, both verbal, written and non-verbal.
- Computer proficiency.
- Understand efficiency drivers in a mining operation.
- Self-motivated individual who is driven to find solutions and strive for continuous improvement in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
