Welding COE Mechanical Designer role at Aecon Group Inc.
Aecon is a Canadian leader in infrastructure development dedicated to safely and sustainably building for the future. This role supports Aecon Nuclear Centre of Excellence (COE) in welding initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Completes mechanical design efforts related to welding, automation, fabrication and construction tasks.
- Assist in developing, troubleshooting, designing, testing and training with welding tooling and equipment.
- Track day-to-day operations within the COE welding facility with respect to deliverable obligations.
- Support contract proposal efforts and review customer-supplied technical data.
- Input purchase requisition data to procure custom tooling and equipment.
- Interface with vendors to clarify and provide technical feedback / input during procurement.
- Generate project status reports for internal management and for customers as required.
What You Bring To The Team
College and / or university degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience, with emphasis on welding (mechanical, materials, mechatronics, welding & robotics).Minimum 2 years of industry welding or manufacturing experience.Practical hands-on experience with manufacturing tools and welding is an asset.Familiarity with welding principles; basics of arc welding and types of welding preferred.Familiarity with robotics or semi-automated / mechanized machinery is an asset.Previous design experience with tools, fixtures and simple rigging is an asset.Ability to produce solid models and 2D manufacturing drawings in SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor or equivalent CAD.Intermediate to expert proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral).Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and staff.Willingness for continuous learning and advancement of technical knowledge.Detail-oriented with a passion for quality and safety.Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.Willingness to mentor and share knowledge; commitment to safety culture.Ability to think innovatively and solve welding-related technical issues.Results-oriented with ownership of tasks; strong problem-solving and teamwork skills.Experience with Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project is an asset.Knowledge of project management principles and earned value concepts is an asset.About Aecon
