Temporary Full Time Teacher Support Student (Canada Summer Jobs)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

• With the supervision of classroom teachers, assisting teachers in each Childcare classroom to perform general supervision and care of a classroom, interact with the children to provide support, watch safety of the children.
• Assist teachers in the planning and preparing activities that encourage children’s creativity and learning, and promote each child’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
• Role models appropriate behaviours and attitudes, supporting the mission of The Learning Corner Childcare Centre.
• Learning and assisting teachers to safely escort children to and from school, and on trips or walks outside the centre.
• Participate in special events put on by the Childcare Centre.
• Assist with facility cleanliness, toy / equipment disinfecting and organization.
• Ensure that all information about children, families, staff, visitors, and volunteers are strictly confidential; and that activity records and statistics are stored in a secure location.
• Attend and participate actively as required. Learning and performing other duties and skills as needed.

WORKING CONDITIONS :

• This position is a temporary full-time position based on 35 hours per week for 8 weeks.
• The shifts will be 7.5 hours per day which includes a ½ hour unpaid meal break.
• Flexibility in scheduling is required.
• Ability to lift / carry children, stand for extended periods of time and work at the height of children.

Normal location of work is : 3199 Lauzon Road, Windsor

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS :

This position is funded in part through the Canada Summer Jobs Program and the following represents the applicant criteria : Is between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of the employment.

Is a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act* : and,Is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations.

• International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are a Canadian Citizen or a permanent resident.
• Completed High School
