Prosperity Workforce Solutions is seeking a dedicated and experienced Mental Health Nurse to provide high-quality mental health nursing services for our client.
Position Summary
The Mental Health Nurse will be an integral member of a multidisciplinary team delivering outpatient mental health care. This role focuses on providing evidence-based clinical interventions, assessments, and psycho-educational programming tailored to the unique needs of patients, including operational trauma and occupational health considerations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive bio-psychosocial assessments and collaborate with clients to develop individualized treatment plans.
- Deliver direct client care and interventions aligned with psychiatric diagnoses in the DSM-V.
- Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans based on clinical outcomes.
- Provide supportive counselling using evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Strengths-Based Perspectives, and Motivational Interviewing.
- Design and facilitate psycho-educational sessions for individuals and groups (e.g., stress management, relaxation, anger management).
- Deliver health education to clients and their support networks.
- Monitor medication therapeutic responses and educate clients on medication use, effects, and side effects.
- Provide brief interventions for clients in acute distress and support access to internal and external health services.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to coordinate care and share client progress.
- Conduct deployment-related health activities such as pre-deployment and enhanced post-deployment assessments.
- Offer clinical recommendations to primary care providers regarding employment limitations based on client health assessments.
- Communicate and liaise with external healthcare professionals and service agencies.
- Distribute mental health awareness and outreach materials to bases and units.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Nursing from a recognized college or university, and one of the following :Certificate in Mental Health Nursing or
Certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing from the Canadian Nursing Association or
Bachelor of Science in Psychiatric Nursing or equivalent.
Minimum of 3 years of relevant mental health nursing experience within the last 5 years, including supportive psychotherapy, CBT, solution-focused therapy, counselling, and crisis intervention or management in adult community settings.Current Registered Nurse (RN) licence in the province of practice.Certification in CPR Level C with AED, or willingness to obtain.#J-18808-Ljbffr
