J2 is looking for a Maintenance Technician to join our dynamic organization.

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Production Operations Manager at the Orenda Coatings facility in Brampton, Ontario, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for reporting on daily issues and downtime to the Manager.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works cooperatively in a team-oriented fashion to maintain, repair and fabricate machines, equipment, and devices
  • Complies with all Company safety policies, procedures and rules
  • Adheres to the Technical System Procedures and instructions
  • Develops and maintains the Mechanical Preventative Maintenance program with management and production personnel and reports to management on the completion of the audits
  • Maintains the inventory of spare parts and requests replacements be ordered when items are consumed
  • Performs repairs in the plant and on plant equipment as assigned
  • Performs Preventative Maintenance
  • Operates lifting equipment such as Lift Truck, Crane, and Chain Hoist, to move, load or unload equipment as required
  • Operates all maintenance related equipment including but not limited to Aerial lift, scissor lift, lathe, milling machine, and power tools
  • May also be called upon to perform repair welding
  • Actively participates in Continuous Improvement activities
  • Knowledgeable of and follows safe working practices
  • Maintains a safe and tidy work area
  • Ensures the Standards of Section 28 of the OHSA are met
  • Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • One to two years practical experience or a minimum of five years related experience
  • Able to diagnose and remedying any mechanical, pneumatic, electrical or hydraulic problems on the shift

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Required to adhere to and comply with environmental, health and safety rules / policies as related to the job function and business conduct guidelines
  • Requires wearing personal protective equipment (safety footwear, hearing protection, safety glasses) in appropriate areas
