Job Overview

Senior Counsel & Privacy Officer provides strategic and timely legal advice to Laurentis Energy Partners. Counsel is required to be a member in good standing of the Law Society of Upper Canada and must retain that status.

Key Accountabilities

• Prepare and process payroll end-to-end, including new hire onboarding, timesheet allocation, pay cycle processing, and pay adjustments in compliance with collective agreements.
• Adhere to LeP’s governance, including the Code of Business Conduct, and practice with integrity.
• Develop and maintain significant expertise in the legal practice area and in LeP’s business, organization and goals.
• Educate clients about legal matters and developments in the practice area.
• Identify practical and effective strategies that pursue LeP’s goals and advise clients on options.
• Represent LeP with external stakeholders, including shareholders, government bodies, ministries, suppliers, external counsel and union representatives.
• Provide strategic and legal advice concerning changes to policies, practices and procedures.
• Represent LeP in mediations and before courts and tribunals.
• Stay current on statutory changes, significant case law and prevailing legal strategy.
• Draft legal contracts and legal opinions in response to client needs.
