Sales Account Executive - Business Development
Founded in 1927, CBM is a fourth-generation, Canadian-owned metal fabrication company. We are looking for an experienced and driven Sales Executive to join our dynamic and innovative team.
Position Summary
The Sales Account Executive – Business Development plays a critical role in driving revenue growth for CBM by managing and expanding existing accounts, developing new opportunities, and prospecting into new markets. This role requires a strong blend of relationship management, technical understanding of CBM’s metal fabrication and contract manufacturing capabilities, and proactive hunting skills. The successful candidate will build strategic partnerships, support customer success, and contribute to long-term business growth. This individual must be self‑motivated, comfortable with cold outreach, confident in technical sales discussions, and capable of representing CBM at customer sites, industry events, and trade shows.
Key Responsibilities
Account Management & Growth
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned accounts, maintaining strong long‑term relationships.
- Strengthen customer satisfaction through responsiveness, communication, and problem resolution.
- Identify upsell, cross‑sell, and expansion opportunities within existing accounts.
- Prepare account updates, customer correspondence and contact reports in Salesforce.
New Business Development
Prospect and qualify new business opportunities across various markets through cold calling, outreach campaigns, and lead generation.Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline in Salesforce and report bi‑monthly opportunity forecasts with probability.Attend industry events to promote CBM and identify new opportunities as required.Technical & Commercial Expertise
Understand and interpret customer technical requirements, drawings, and specifications to propose effective solutions.Work closely with Estimating, Design, Customer Service, and Production to ensure feasibility.Participate in engineering / design review meetings and internal sales meetings.Contribute to margin analysis to support pricing decisions.Additional Responsibilities
Maintain accurate Salesforce / CRM records and track all customer interactions, forecasting and Pipeline management.Support the development of CBM’s sales, marketing, and business development strategy.Assist Accounting with credit and collection processes as needed.Monitor industry trends, competitor activity and provide actionable feedback to leadership.Other duties as required to support sales and operational objectives.Qualifications & Experience
Education
Diploma or Degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field preferred.Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering background is an asset.Experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in technical sales, ideally in metal fabrication, manufacturing, or custom products.Proven success in both account management and new business development.Experience managing customer portfolio of $5M–$10M annually is an asset.Technical Knowledge
Strong understanding of metal fabrication processes (laser cutting, forming, welding, finishing, assembly).Ability to interpret drawings, specs, and manufacturing requirements.Familiarity with ISO Quality Standards; FMEA / NPI experience an asset.Soft Skills
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.Competitive, self‑driven, and capable of working independently.Highly organized with strong attention to detail.Capable of balancing hunting and account management responsibilities.Tools & Systems
