Head Lifeguard
Beaumont’s most-exciting place to work in the City. Beaumont is the fastest growing community in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region and the Beaumont Sport & Recreation Centre (BSRC) is looking for a certified, energetic Head Lifeguard to join our team! This facility features an NHL-sized ice rink with seating for spectators, an indoor fieldhouse for soccer and lacrosse, a gymnasium for multi-court play, climbing wall, running / walking track, concession, multi-purpose rooms, tuck shops, and an aquatic centre.
Do you have a sound understanding of lifeguard / instructor principles? Are you able to practice good judgement? What YOU’RE Responsible for :
- Daily Operations Management : Ensure all scheduled aquatic activities are delivered according to the planned daily schedule.
- Address and resolve day-to-day challenges related to aquatic programming and scheduling.
- Complete all required daily reporting, including water tests, inspections, and checklists.
- Maintain a clean and healthy aquatic environment through water testing, cleaning protocols, and upkeep of pool deck and change rooms.
- Support staff with first aid, instruction, lifeguarding, and maintenance as needed on the pool deck.
- Manage and document all incidents, ensuring that both verbal and written reports are completed as required.
- Ensure Lifeguard to bather ratios meet safety standards.
Safety Supervision & OH&S
Oversee staff and public safety during shifts, ensuring compliance with OH&S standards and public safety regulations.Monitor pool activities, focusing on accident and injury prevention to maintain patron safety.Supervise and mentor casual staff during shifts.Maintain up-to-date schedules and adjust as needed.Act as the designated person in charge during emergency situations within the pool area.Manage and maintain Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other safety supplies.Leadership & Instruction
Assist with staff hiring, orientation, training, and scheduling.Help organize and lead team-building activities, staff certifications, and in-service training sessions.Serve as the lead instructor by ensuring class minimums and maximums are met and assisting on the first day of lessons to resolve any issues related to class assignments or locations.Public Relations & Safety
Provide an on-deck supervisory presence during pool activities.Respond to public inquiries in person, via email, or by phone.Enforce safety rules and maintain a proactive approach to ensure a safe environment for both leisure swimmers and program participants.Administrative Duties
Manage inventory duties as requiredAssist in reviewing and updating aquatics department policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with current legislation and Alberta Health Services requirementsSupport the Team Lead with programming as neededWhat YOU Bring :
