Learning & Development Specialist III - 12 Month Limited Term Employment

The Learning & Development Specialist collaborates with the business to manage the delivery and execution of talent & learning development programs across Seaspan, that create high levels of learner engagement and achievement of learning outcomes.

Key to this role is ensuring internal client partners are provided with quality programming and training development support to their business.

The position works collaboratively with other HR partners to ensure the employee experience as it relates to talent programs is delivered efficiently, with excellence, and with standard methodologies' top of mind.

Note : This position is an 12-month limited term role with eligible benefits and 3 weeks' vacation. This position qualifies for an optional hybrid work schedule after 90 days of onsite work and onboarding.

Employee will be subject to the terms of the Flexible Work Policy Agreement.

What you'll do

  • Lead end to end program management of multiple, sophisticated learning projects in a cross-functional, fast-paced team environment.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver learning solutions by using digital content where possible, and coordinating instructor led training as needed (working alongside HR business partners and leadership development practitioners).
  • Serve as a learning point of contact, driving awareness about the programs being offered.
  • Manage program priorities and communication with participants, managers, and leadership.
  • Assist in the development of program strategies, roadmaps, and timelines that outline key results.
  • Act as program manager for any new program launches and handle deadlines associated with program launch.
  • Design and develop asynchronous learning that fosters innovative and engaging learning solutions and end user experiences, leveraging e-learning, simulation, gamification, and performance support tools.
  • Continuously improve and enhance programs by acquiring and analyzing end-user and collaborator feedback / learning evaluations.
  • Research program evaluation strategy in partnership with HR business partners and leadership development practitioners) to generate useful program impact reports.
  • Evaluate strengths and weaknesses of learning solutions using HR metrics and insights.
  • Vendor management - manage internal faculty and external vendors across multiple development programs, including defining opportunities, vendor selection, contract management, and upskilling internal facilitators.
  • Collaborating with subject matter experts and cross functional teams to perform needs analyses in support of achieving team or departmental wide objectives

What you'll bring

  • Successful completion of a Bachelor's Degree or a related degree in organization development, psychology, education, or adult learning.
  • 3-5 years of experience in program management, relationship management, learning development, change management, operations, logistics, or other HR related field
  • Demonstrable experience delivering and scaling sophisticated training & development programs
  • Experience evaluating program impact including program measurement and evaluating learning solutions (Kirkpatrick model)
  • Experience scaling learning solutions in large, complex organizations with both unionized and salaried workforce.
  • Formal education in Instructional Design preferred or, Training, Educational Technology and asset
  • Experience using e-learning technologies, learning and knowledge management systems, networks, and communities of practices.
  • Passionate about learning and development.
  • Knows how to apply adult learning principles into client solutions.
  • Cultivates connection by putting people first and building trusting relationships.
  • Ability to make creative recommendations and improvements based on evaluation data
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with competing priorities and interact with diverse technical and non-technical groups, spanning all organizational levels
  • Demonstrated ability to engage, collaborate, influence and champion best practices in support of learning
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to create and maintain positive relationships with diverse groups of people throughout the organization
  • Strong customer responsiveness to learning requests
  • Advanced ability to investigate, analyze and solve complex problems / issues.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate to all levels within the organization
  • Excellent organizational skills with self-initiative and ability to work effectively on an independent basis
  • Solid understanding of various Program Management Systems (e-learning authoring tools, web-based content publishing systems, survey tools, Sharepoint / intranet sites would be an asset)
  • Strong competency with Learning Management Systems (Saba Cornerstone would be an asset)
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft applications (Powerpoint in particular, Excel, MS Forms, Outlook tools)

The estimated salary for this position is $90,000 - $110,000. In determining final salary, Seaspan considers many factors including the successful Candidate’s skillset and experience as well as position location and internal equity.

The final base salary offer will be at the Company’s sole discretion and presented as part of a competitive total compensation package.
