Under the leadership of the Director, Clinical Services, the Pharmacoeconomist plays a pivotal role in providing pharmacoeconomic expertise to optimize pharmacy benefit management products from both clinical and economic perspectives at Express Scripts Canada.
Your expertise in analyzing and interpreting the cost-effectiveness and outcomes of various pharmaceutical products will direct the decision-making process, formulary management and other cost containment strategies as part of the Express Scripts Canada Clinical Services team.
This includes managing and expanding the pharmacoeconomic strategy to support our clients’ pharmaceutical value-based efforts.
This role utilizes data analytics, in conjunction with evidence-based medicine, to identify opportunities, implement initiatives and / or policy, and measure outcomes.
Responsibilities :
Designs, advises, and performs pharmacoeconomic analyses and analytic plans including but not limited to, cost-effectiveness analyses and multi-criteria decision analyses
Participates in the development and achievement of strategic and research objectives as they relate to pharmaceutical spending and associated value-based efforts
Performs or critically appraises budget impact analyses on new and marketed pharmaceutical products
Develops and maintains pharmacoeconomic models and analyzes claims data to generate meaningful insights
Directs the activities of a value assessment committee : leads meetings, gathers information, , analyzes data, presents materials, and creates and maintains processes.
Collaborates with colleagues to review, evaluate and prioritize pharmaceutical products for inclusion in formularies and / or benefit management programs
Monitors market trends, drug pricing and healthcare policies to assess potential impact on PBM cost containment strategies
Assist in the design and development of tools and mechanisms to document the outcomes and value associated with pharmacoeconomic activities
Provides analyses related to pharmaceutical value-based efforts in collaboration with and to cross functional teams
Participates in and attend client meetings as required
Participates in program planning, strategic planning, and business development activities
May perform other job-related duties as assigned or requested
Qualifications :
Advanced degree in Health Economics, Pharmacoeconomics or related field is required
5+ years of experience in conducting pharmaco-economic analyses within the pharmaceutical industry, healthcare consulting or at a PBM is required
Experience in pharmacy benefits management, group insurance or benefits consulting
Strong analytical skills with various pharmacoeconomic methodologies not limited to but including proficiency in data analytics
Familiarity with health technology assessment (HTA) processes and guidelines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
Ability to collaborate effectively in team environment and effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously
Resourcefulness skills required; Identify challenges that may occur and address potential solutions with your team to prevent or minimize obstacles before they arise
