Students residing within a 50‑kilometre radius of Banff, AB, with a legal status to work in Canada. Applicants must :
Duties
Students will conduct field work to monitor forest and alpine songbird diversity, pika abundance, amphibian occupancy, and wildlife occupancy via remote cameras. Additional responsibilities include : supporting EIM projects in the office, preparing and planning fieldwork, organising and servicing field equipment, data entry and management, remote camera photo classification, and songbird / amphibian audio classification. Applicants must be physically fit and able to safely travel, navigate and spend full days in wilderness environments.

Intent of the process
Results may be used to fill other temporary student vacancies within the Banff Field Unit or similar locations, with full‑ or part‑time hours for various tenures, depending on the selected candidate.

Additional certifications : Wilderness First Aid – 40‑hour minimum. Copies required at interview. Experience with scientific research applications (spreadsheets, databases). Knowledge of statistical analysis, geographic information systems, and Banff National Park’s landscape, weather and wildlife safety protocols. Ability to service remote cameras and classify camera images.
