Job Summary
Reporting to the Central Plant Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following :
Efficient operation of boilers and chillers (including biofuel system at Truro location) for maximum performance.Ongoing monitoring of Thermal Plant systems and equipment to ensure safety and efficiency.Maintenance of Thermal Plant systems and equipment to ensure continuous operation.Maintain a clean work environment.Respond appropriately to critical alarms by investigating upset conditions.Perform duties in accordance with the Nova Scotia Occupational Health & Safety Act and university / government regulations.Water treatment control duties, as required.Complete log sheets, daily / weekly / monthly inspection sheets as directed.Energy management through Metasys / Rockwell Plant Controls.Perform additional duties as required.Note

Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in‑person on campus.
Required Qualifications
Valid 3rd Class Power Engineer’s certificate recognized by the Nova Scotia Department of Labour or equivalent.Minimum of three years recent and related experience.Knowledge of Johnson Controls Metasys, DCS, burner management, and boiler modulating systems.Computer proficiency and use of various programs.Good communication and organizational skills.Ability to read and interpret drawings / blueprints.Familiarity with the Nova Scotia Occupational Health & Safety Act and university / government regulations.Ability to take direction and work flexible hours.Willingness and ability to work shifts, rotating shifts, and overtime.General safety and WHMIS training an asset.Capability to work alone.Assets
