Our Physical Facilities department helps keep our campus running! We are looking for a Journeyperson Electrician to perform skilled work in the installation, alteration, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment on campus.
Roles and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager, Mechanical Systems, below are some key accountabilities :
- Perform the tasks related to predictive, preventive and demand maintenance of building electrical distribution, building power, lighting and emergency power systems associated equipment and controls. Analyze and problem solve provide training and advice on systems and components as required.
- Perform electrical maintenance on emergency power systems and building plant electrical equipment, motors, motor control centers, variable frequency drives, uninterruptible power supplies, and capacitor power factor equipment.
- Oversee fire alarm protection systems : Perform required maintenance and repair problems on demand as well as perform preventive maintenance and train others on the system operations.
- Work with High Voltage (13,800v) systems : Maintain, repair, monitor, analyze problems, schedule, plan work, train staff and provide safety lockout for staff and outside contractors.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
Completion of Journeyperson electrician certificationAt least 5 years of electrical and building maintenance work experienceProven mechanical experience and working knowledge and skills in electrical function areasSelf-motivated and reliable to follow through and carry out assignmentsExperience with inventory management and sourcing and ordering partsKnowledge of the Alberta building codesDemonstrated track record of effective problem solvingStrong team playerExcellent customer service and communication skillsAble to work independently, with minimal supervisionPhysically fit and capable of working in physically demanding work environment including confined spaces, high temperatures, and loud noisesClass “5” Alberta driver’s license.Special Requirements
Due to the nature of the job, this position may be required to work weekends, nights, holidays, or extended hours as needed. May be required to be on standby during non-regular hours.Employment Terms and Benefits
