Intent of the process
The intent of this process is to fill various English essential positions in Nanoose Bay (Nanaimo) and Esquimalt, British Columbia & in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
This inventory may be used by the Department of National Defence to fill future vacancies with various employment tenures (temporary and permanent), language profiles, security requirements, and conditions of employment.

Asset Experience :
- Experience working in a marine environment as a maintenance deckhand or oiler, or an equivalent military naval occupation.
- Experience working on a tugboat.
- Experience in handling a boat at sea.
- Experience working in an engine room.
- Experience working in a marine environmental response team.
- Experience as a rigger.
- Experience in the maintenance, repair, and operation of marine machinery or equipment.
- Experience performing maintenance, repair, or fabrication work in a commercial or industrial environment.
- Experience working or volunteering in a mixed public service and military environment.
- Experience in steam plant operations.
Asset Occupational Certification :
- Possession of a Bridge Watch Rating certificate
- Possession of an Engine Room Rating certificate
- Small Vessel Operator Proficiency (SVOP) certificate
- Small Vessel Machinery Operator (SVMO) certificate

Conditions of employment

Managers may establish conditions of employment specific to the position being staffed. Candidates must meet and maintain the conditions of employment throughout their employment.
These requirements may be, but are not limited to, the following :
- Must be willing and able to work both scheduled and unexpected overtime as required by naval operations.
- Must be willing and able to work for long periods in exposed locations in all weather conditions.
- Must be willing and able to work away from home port up to one week at a time.
- Must be willing and able to stand sea watches.
- Must be willing and able to wear and maintain a DND uniform, inclusive of CSA approved safety footwear and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Must be willing and able to wear respirators in accordance with DND regulations and meet the standard of the DND Respiratory Protection Program.
- Must be willing to be designated and assigned duties as a member of the Nuclear Emergency Response Team.
- Must meet and maintain the medical requirements of Health Canada in accordance with the Treasury Board guidelines.
