Job Summary : Reporting to the Operations Manager and operating from our Fort McKay Business Incubator Park location, the Transportation Training Supervisor is responsible for the coordination and development of the company’s Training and Development.
The incumbent is required to assess current training and development programs, develop new training programs, identify current and future training needs, implement measurement tools, and evaluate training initiatives, provide feedback, and maintain employee training records.
The incumbent must communicate to the trainees about what is expected out of their training in a simple and professional way.
The incumbent must be able to multi-task efficiently in a fast-paced environment and hold a valid class 1 license. Duties and Responsibilities : Development and coordinating of personnel and equipment scheduling.
Co-ordinate with HR and conduct road tests prior to onboarding. Conduct research to identify specific staff training needs.
Assess the needs of the company and design specialized training programs to enhance productivity. Develop, administer, and deliver training programs.
Maintain training records for all staff. Ensure to keep required training certificates and tickets up to date and active for both yourself and all staff.
Guide managers and supervisors in developing training skills. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the training program and employee progress.
Tailor training programs, as necessary. Maintain knowledge of relevant legislation and requirements. Assist Operations in managing employees needs for training.
Sign off on graduating Short Service Workers. Take Train-the-Trainer course for certification when required (WHMIS, TDG, Bonding Mat etc).
Track onsite training (visit new and older workers). Set up training grounds to show proper steps and techniques on all pieces of equipment.
Stay up to date on all site, job and training requirements. Ensure employees are trained, competent and ticketed for the job.
Lead by example by following all BME rules, policies, procedures, and practices. Promoting a safe work environment through implementation and creation of safe work procedures with HSE team.
Conduct general and site inspections. Ensure safe operation and maintenance of all assigned equipment during training. Participate in daily toolbox talks.
Assess hazards in the field and correct in a timely manner. Maintain a clean and safe working environment. Maintain company vehicle as required fuel, oil changes etc.
Maintain site ID’s for all site accesses. Other duties as assigned. Skills and Qualifications : Possess valid Class 1 driver's license with clean abstract.
OSSA (or BSO / CSO) and CSTS Certification. Minimum 3 years previous supervisory and 5 years training experience. Previous experience operating water and vac trucks.
Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. NCSO Designation or working towards. Above average troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Proficient in training methodologies and knowledge of staff learning and assessment protocols. Demonstrate superior teamwork abilities.
Ability to plan, multi-task and manage time effectively. Strong writing and record keeping abilities. Excellent communication and organization skills.
Interpersonal skills, facilitation, and planning skills. Strong computer skills (i.e. outlook, excel, SharePoint, etc.).
Must successfully pass BME pre-employment evaluation, road test, D&A and fit for duty pre-employment screening.
